Carpet can go to hell if it leaks. I'd Rather it leaked on the floor. That way I don't accidentally pull out with no brakes. I'll trade a carpet for notice of failed brakes any day!

  2. Bobs got a cheesy name but he makes nice pedals. I like the separate idea.

  3. how do you fill the m/c if it's under your dash? how do you check the fluid level? Not taking shots....just would like to know how you do it.

i just ordered a reverse mount clutch with MC and extended pedal for $155 from CNC. i couldnt justify spending the time to fab something up for what it cost to get a pedal from cnc.

    plus the service is great.

The Wilwood reverse pedal setup is available with plastic master cylinders. Not pretty, but you can see the fluid level. To fill it I have an old medical bottle with an L shaped spout.

Didnt some Dodge vans have the sideways mounted ones? Anyone remember what years those were??

  8. Well if it was under your dash it wouldn't particularly matter how pretty it was....and if it served a purpose it's ok in my book.

  14. I was just checking the CNC stuff out. 'Looks' like pretty good stuff for the money. Would be great to hear your impressions when it comes. (Anybody else use CNC?)

I used the ECI stuff on the last two builds here at the shop. But i was going to make the set for my 34 pickup out of a bb set up and a bellcrank set up i have been farten with. I mite rethink my design after seeing that single pedal set up.

That part of my build scared the hell out of me .Only took a week and built my own There is a mathmatical formula for this ,

I'm in the process of building a similar set up.

It all starts with the stroke length of the MC piston AND the wanted pedal ratio.
Pedal ratio is usually 6-7:1. The stroke length on my Corvette MC is 1,26"

You must have a set up that allows full function of the MC.
If the length from the pedal pivot point up to the point for fastening the push rod for the MC is too short, you won't be able to fully operate the MC.

When you have found this distance and what pedal ratio you want, you know the total length of the pedal, and how much space for swing the pedal will need.

Next is the lower end of the pedal that should be app 4-5" over the floor.
Then you know how high up behind the dash you ned to fasten the pedal pivot point and the rest kind of gives it self.

A thing to consider whit limited space is that if you build with a 90 degree transverse MC, it is possible to mount the MC lower than the pedal pivot point. Actually it will be possible to locate the MC nearly anywhere under the dash.

  21. ^ha...didn't know what mathematical formula he was refering to. Yeah the ratio is easy to calculate.

An earlier poster asked about filling and checking fluid reservoir. The only answer he got was from one guy who has a removable cowl panel.
That's great if it fits your build and you set it up like that to start with, but what about those with a fixed cowl panel? I've always wondered about checking/filling these things.

one other concern is with the chevy truck dual master, the pistons are both the same size (1 1/8") isn't that gonna make it hard to push the clutch in?...

One guy I know has the transparent wilwood reservoirs for checking and then to add he snakes a hose in there with a funnel above level. Other option would be to have remote reservoirs mounted conveniently.

  25. What my dad did on his was mount it so the m/c was directly under the cowl gas cap. So he could pop the top on the gas cap and m/c and look through the fuel filler hole to see the m/c fluid level and fill it. I thought that was clever.

I went to the farm store TSC around here and picked up some big syringes for cow vitimins. and a couple feet of clear pvc tubing. I hold the tube with one hand with my finger in the res. (to feel the fluid when it gets close to the top) and squirt with the other hand. works great for under floor frame mounts also.

  27. yes that's what I did too -

you could use a flip up gas cap if you didn't have screw type.
