Guys, I did a search and could not find it anywhere on the HAMB and at $600-$800 a piece for the original unsplit wishbone it make sense to modify or lengthen another set of wish bones to work. Has anyone done it and which wish bone did you modify and how?? Anyone???

  3. The Tardel book talks about making a "poor mans" wishbone. Use model A front yokes and the longer '37 ish rear radius rods for donors.

  4. I did the same as Mr. Tardel and it is easy to do if your welding skills are good.

The 1932 1933 1934 wishbones are very close to each other and a few pictures and dimensions at 10 inches at the weld and 24 inches. As you see at 10 inches it is only .100 higher in dim. Then at 20 inches down from the weld it is still at .100 thousands . I took some measurements on a 1935 1936 and @ 10 inches down it was 1.170 and then 24 it was 2.120 . The difference on the 32-34 it has a thinner blade @ - .060 down the length of the 35-36..
I machine a insert to fill the inside of the wishbone and then pin on both ends and weld split and pins. I hope this will help and as you see it will need a bit of pinching and expanding but just like any chop

I built a pair of unsplit 34 wishbone from some later tubes and early ends and a center from I don't remember what year. Its under my 34 coupe now. There's pics in my albums. Check it out. It looks good to the untrained eye and was cheap and easy.

Awesome, I bought a complete '34 axle and wish bone at a swap meet two years ago and at the time I didn't have a use for it but now I know why. I will just extend it using a Model A yoke and follow the Tardel procedure which is pretty straight forward. Thanks for saving me $800!!
