I happen to have an Offenhauser complete catalog. I would be more than happy to make copies of it for guys that want it. I don't know how to do it, but if someone wanted to help walk me through it, I could do a pdf file. I don't know how much it would cost (50+ pages) to make copies but if you want to cover the cost of the copies and mailing, I'd be more than happy to do it.
Since Offy lacks a website, their catalog hasn't been reprinted in decades, and there is endless interest in their stuff here--maybe someone could help turn it into an online catalog. I have my own paper ones that work fine, but there are questions on here weekly at least on Offy numbers. Offy seems to function as a secret cult--there stuff is still available, but it isn't easy for people without collections of old hotrod paper to find out what they make.
That is exactly my point! Very well said Bruce. I'm been getting alot of PM's about different products. I figured this might be the first step in been able to get more information available. If Offenhauser doesn't do it, then I will. Now if I could just get Offy to make more stuff and end the backorders! (I think world peace would be an easier problem to fix, but everyone has to have a dream!)
dmarv - where is Exeter? id be more than happy to scan the booklet for you, i can also convert it to a PDF file. iam about 5min from Pasadena.
i would like a copy if you get it in pdf. with kids around sometime my catalogues become obsolete. lucidalien3000@yahoo.com
One of the nicest things about Offy is that their catalog never becomes obsolete! Neither the book nor the product line have changed in...what is it now? 20 years or so?
Heads were 75 a pair except V8-60 which were 71. Dealers got 35% off if you bought 3 sets... 40% for 6 sets. interestingly they sold other products too. Halibrand rears, Stewart Warner gauges etc. Would you pay 108.95 for a Harmon and Collins mag? Prices effective December 1st 1951...All prices subject to change without notice.
Dmarv .. Good idea another good thing is that Offenhauser have never let any of their items die ... The `51 catalog is a waaay cool collectors item , but a `64 , or even better, a `70 catalog might be the best to copy . What was offered in the `51 catalog was still available in the `70 version . They added COOL stuff all the time ... Last I heard , they still had all their paterns/molds .. A great demand for a spesific piece will probably result in a rerun .. KLAZ
Another vote for the paper version as well! Or on disc. Would be more than happy to help with costs! jerry
If I get a paper copy, I'll scan it into a .PDF, how much for a paper copy (single sided, so there's no bleed through when scanning)
Great idea. I'd like a copy of either the PDF or the paper copy. PDF would probably be cheaper because everyone could print out their own rather than paying for shipping.
That site is for the Miller/Offenhauser engine. Nothing to do with Offenhauser Equipment Corporation. But thanks, the site has alot of great inforamtion! Love to have one of the engines!
I'd like one too, either way. I don't know if it has been brought up recently or not, but what is the status of the company. They almost seem reluctant to be in business, with no recent catalog or website. It's hard to get their stuff if you don't know what they have or where to get it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not being critical, as I do like the products that I have been able to buy, I'm just curious why they don't make it a little eaisier to get their products. I appreciate what you doing to help us out with this.
Since your kinda hooked up with them why not propose doing and managing a website and online catalog? Even if its not for sales, people could know whats available
I'm in on a copy, paper/PDF what ever. Name the costs when you know. Easiest way for you to handle would probably be too scan and email everyone. A PDF file is simple to print and the needed software is free on the internet. Very cool of you to do this. Love encreasing my collection of Hot rod stuff. Paul
