Dunno. Shot those at CHRR didn't ya? Looks like maybe Clarence in the background by the stands...Atch?
Just out of curiosity, is a rod like that, street legal? You seem to have a hell of lot of similar vehicles that wouldn't have a chance of being street legal over here. Do they get driven to meets or trailered?(shock! horror!)
If it's not the same car, one's a clone. There are a few obvious differences or changes...headlights/bar,grille,headers,oil filter, carbs. You be the judge. This pic and the caption are from Peter Vincent's Hot Rod book.If it is Hascall's car,I recall a feature in St. Rodder a few years back.
It looks like Charlie Hascal's (sp?). I tried to find the photo of it from an old Street Rodder, but my magazines are scattered. Looks like you're branching out, Nate. What's on your melon? == Looks like Lowlife beat me to it. Musta posted that while I was looking through my magazines. It definitely looks different, but if it's not the same car, it certainly looks to be inspired by Hascal's RPU.
no its not charlies, i met the kid down at hrr , hes fuckin hilarious, a real smart ass, his name is suporn, his parents emmigrated from tieland (i think?) from what i understand he bought the little truck stock, then bought the bishop/tardel book and made an a v8 like larry shinoda's but didnt like it like that so he proceeded to cut the crap out of the thing, its his daily driver, i was commenting how it wasnt very driveable says he can hit speed bumps at 4omph no problem it was his very first effort, never even touched a welder before this thing its a little ratty but everything seemed to be made sturdy
That truck belongs to my friend Soporn we call him Porno. He really built the thing himself. I gave him a little guidence here and there but the hands on stuff is all him. It gets driven everyware bonneville, vegas, paso,el mirage, palmdale, work, school, rain or shine. He even drove to san diego once just for the hell of it.He is really a cool guy and a great artist.
There's a p/u identical to that one minus the spare running around the Santa Monica West LA area. I see him every so often, maybe he answer your question. What do you want to know?
Yup, that's definitely Soporan's truck. He drives the living shit out of that thing. I think he's been through like three flatheads in it & since the pics posted he's made some new headers. He's a hell of an artist as well. What's up Pat? Did you get the roadster driving? -r
ive been collecting parts for a 29 rpu lately and been making parts for a body in my school and been looking for parts. I want to know how much its channeled, zed, dropped axle or not, how much its chopped? The basic stuff. Im looking for my ride to have the same stance pretty much. Thanks for all the help! Nate
