Are these Cal-custom or ?? No one I talked to can identify these, one guy said they might be the pre Cal-custom name. They are 303-324 Olds and stamped OLDS 49-56 inside.
Never seen them before. But, my old cal-custom valve covers on the 390 in my Galaxie have "CAL CUSTOM GARDENA, CALIFORNIA" cast inside them.
Maybe not much help but, this Hot Rod magazine on ebay from 1953 has Cal-Race Speed Equip and Mfg. Co. listed as an advertiser. http://cgi.ebay.com/Hot-Rod-magazin...120164202QQihZ011QQcategoryZ280QQcmdZViewItem
you need to send those to me so i can inspect them in person. i'll let you borrow my offy covers in the meantime...
I'm with Yorg but I think they need to be sent fro independent overseas verification...... hell I will even pay postage Seriously they are very cool, good score.
Thanks for the info, its more ive gotten in the last year.Gonna search the old mags.Anyone know how long cal-race was around for?I got this fresh 303 with the valve covers from this old guys son who was selling all his parts and i picked this up for $100 ...came with a Hildebrandt oil adaptor and lower belhousing.Garage was last opened in 1970.Wont make you sick on the other stuff I got.
Hildebrandt also made valve covers....think they are still in business Check it out inas much as the other items are Hildebrandt.
I have some valve covers on a 390 Ford that say cal custom Gardena CA ,based on my research they date between1957 and1969 when they changed their name through consolidation .They are perfect I wonder what they are worth ?
Holy crap. Just this weekend I too bought a Hilde oil adapter, lower bellhousing and a ton of other Olds/Cad stuff out of the basement of an old guy who'd had it for many years. But I DO plan on making you guys sick with a post of the goodies.
