Pushrod does clear all the way, even when the piston is all the way pushed in.

I did purchase an NOS international rebuild kit for the clutch side, and the piston is about 1/16”- 1/8” longer than the one that came out of the sleeved chrome master.

(One in rebuilt master on left, NOS one on right)

I know you are trying to keep the original parts together but I'd replace that slave cylinder also and see what happens. Just thinking out loud

You’re probably right. It turns into re-engineering everything unfortunately. Can’t buy this slave cylinder (it’s actually a wheel cylinder). Going to fool with it a little more, and cross my fingers.

It does now! Moved the seats back as far I could. The fiberglass seat must have been for someone about 4 ft tall!

Well it hasn’t been troublefree, but I logged the first 1,000 miles on the coupe! Speedometer showed just 21 miles when I got the car. All 4 tires still had the nubs on them, and the engine internals were like new when torn down. Unfortunately the cars history is still a mystery!

Your key fob looks familiar. Mine is from July, 1994. I think the event was in my back yard. E4DAD13F-BE78-4548-B388-1E3B0C1B4267.jpeg

Looks like a Roy fob , to me! He gave me one when he first started making them, to promote his punching business. Great friend, hope he is doing well! 77F2CA4E-4995-4E51-8474-84EB8CC1E837.jpeg

That’s too cool! Roy’s a great guy. Met him at the first Pinetree Jamboree in 2021 up in Maine.

That’s pretty neat! I wonder how many tags he’s made over the years! I saw him at the Northeast Vintage drags on Memorial Day up in Oxford Maine. He was doing good. Had a bowl of fobs from various events for sale. He was headed out to LA Roadster show I believe.

Ha, someone before me set it there, but no I haven’t exactly taken it easy on the old coupe. I haven’t been launching it hard, but I hold the gears and rev it good. Took it to 105MPH so far. Unfortunately the tach doesn’t work yet anyways. I should get it rebuilt, it’d be fun to see the RPM’s. With the aluminum flywheel it really revs up fast

I’m real glad to hear he’s still having fun! It’s been a few years, since I’ve shot the bull with him; and was hoping he is still at it. Your coupe just keeps getting better and better! It’s righteous! I noticed your fobs have a date on them, wonder what year he started that. Say “hi “ to him , for me ; when you see him. Bowie

Yeah, I got a few of those mini finks ,from Ed over the years. I was referring to the brass fob, that my buddy Roy gave me.

  15. Roy Idman and I go back more than40 years. He is a real good guy that we had a lot of laughs with each other over the years. As far as the orange coupe. did you ever contact Lee Telke from the Plantsville / Southington Connecticut area. Lee had a gas station or two many years ago in Plantsvile, and he was always a car guy, and usually knew who was who, and who owned which cars.

Not to steal Shaun’s thread, but I would imagine you probably knew Buddy George as well. That name beg’s for the question “Who the hell is Buddy George?”

  18. Yes, I knew Buddy George too. My middle son and I got along with Buddy very well. My son and I went to Buddy's house along with another Nailhead Buick guy whose last name I can't remember, Tom, and spent the afternoon discussing Nailhead Buicks. Buddy had a 1934 Ford coupe that he had for many years. He also had a vey nice chopped Henry J that was Nailhead powered. I knew Buddy since the late 1960's. I went up to his place of business in early 1970 to retrieve 2, 1933 Willys ice racers that he had found and we brought them back to Connecticut, one on a trailer, the other in the 8 foot bed of my partner's F-100. Buddy was also into early toys, too.

Unfortunately I was not able to find contact info for Lee, but I’ll try again and see if I can find anything.

As for the coupe, well here’s a small preview of the next project….

  21. Shaun as far as Lee Telke info, here is what I have so far. Try Pete Rosso, a good friend of Lee's, 860-828-0891, or 973 452 6851. Pete also worked at his family's junkyard, Rosso's Auto Parts in Kensington / New Britain, Connecticut in his younger days. These towns abut Southington ,Connecticut.

Finally got around to the roof insert…

I cut out the plexi first, then enlisted the help of a friend to make the stainless piece. I still need make a gasket of some sort, and space the insert about a 1/4” to the plexi is level with the steel opening.

Then I have to figure out how to heat it up, and add a crown to the insert. Maybe prop it up in the middle and heat the sides? Been experimenting, and have had some luck molding it, but then as it cools, it goes back to how it was originally.
