History Anyone recognize this 60’s, Orange, Channeled ‘34 5 Window from New England?

I haven’t checked the block numbers yet... The heads come back as ‘60 389.

 

Those look like Pontiac header flanges. The center ports on a Pontiac are much closer then on a S.B.C.

That rear looks familiar to me but I can't place it. Your best shot would be to shoot a PM to either Church Key or Safariknut here on the hamb.

You might try to contact the "Tyrods", a car club based in the New England area since the 50's. They have a lot of older members that are still actively involved. You might get lucky.

Wow nice find Stogy! That does look similar for sure... I’ll have to check the frame when I get home to see if there’s any traces of white paint!

There is a chance it's a 33...that web on the aft door window vertical is hard to discern...staring at it more the channel is lesser...doesn't mean it wasn't altered...maybe @tombstone can do a better scan...or better yet may know who owned it...

It was said to be 61/62...

 

Checked my OLD notes on that car. It came from Saskatoon Saskatchewan, owned at the time by a Gill Verall , member of the Draggins car club . That’s all I’ve got , don’t know what happened to it or this fellow......

 

That thing is pretty freaking cool

 

I picked up a set of headlight like those a few years ago. They had that pronounced "A" in the glass. As I recall they were a European setup.

 

I guess the wrecking yards and the swap meets of the Yesteryear had a mix of Automobile as there certainly was global trade and immigration going on fueling the parts diversity...you see it in mixed in the Vintage images of the Dry Lakes and Racing and even the daily life pics that abound here...

That wasn't done for the exhaust. It's to keep the spring mounts where they need to be for the spring in front mounts.

 

A friend of mine has a set, he thinks they came off a Citroen

I added some pictures to the first post in the thread.

Did some more investigating. Guy gave me a tip that it might be from Joe Eichner Sr/Jr’s auto body shop which was in Colombia Connecticut. Unfortunately it looks like both of them have passed away.

I got the engine to turn over, but it looks like it’s going to have to be pulled. Probably going to need a rebuilt. Not sure if it ever really ran... everything looked new under the valve covers. The front and rear tires were also brand new. Still have the nubs on em. Guessing they’re from the 60’s or 70’s

 

I see HEI type spark plug wires; is the distributor also an HEI? Someone may have updated it along the way. Is the rear end a 57-64, or a later Salisbury style? Mr. Palmer, the headers were originally SBC, but then modified to fit the Pontiac engine. Car looks like someone used a complete Pontiac from the 60's as a donor vehicle, and made themselves a 34 GTO. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

@Shaun1162, I looked through the entire Cool Cars and Square Roll Bars Book...nothing...that arse end is so unique you would spot it a mile away...

 

So Shaun someone mentioned the rear end...the one in it looks crazy wide...is that illusion or caused by the offset of the wheel rim?...I thought 57 Pontiacs were like Bronco width...just curious and uninformed...

 

Good eye Stogy, it is just an illusion. The seller stuck some reversed steel chrome wheels on there as rollers. It had 8 lug Pontiac with aluminum drums on it when built. They fit quite nicely up under the fenders, but the tires are gonzo.

Thinking about switching to some Mickey Thompson Radars for the rear to match the front. Been doing some research, looks like I just need some drums.

I scanned Cool Cars as soon as I got home with the coupe, but no luck here either!
