I went and looked at this car for sale yesterday. It was 10 miles from the Canadian border. I was just told it was a Merc convertible, No idea it was an old hotrod/custom! The fenders are molded, rear and front pan molded, spears coming from the rear fenders onto the quarters, custom grill, molded taillights and french ed headlights, smoothed, shaved, ect and a dual carb 59AB flatty. Dropped axle, too. The car was full of mud that was cracking pretty good, but the body appeared to be in excellent shape otherwise. I really thing it was a good car that just got customized by spreadin mud all over it. I was SUPER close to buying it as I really want a 41-48 Ford/Merc convertible but had to think on it. It was cheap though!! Called the guy last night and he said i was sold :( Oh well, probably more of a project then I needed anyways :D

So anyone recognize the car? Came from central Washington.

You can't think about cars like that.
You either hate it and don't want it,
or you buy it then and there.

Knowing Chris he probably scored or will score the car for either $500 or in trade for one of his camaro engines he loves.

what exactly was he asking? Wouldn't have taken much to knock out the mud, reinstall taillights (stock or otherwise). Those 56 Chev grille bars have GOTTA GO!!, but that flattie sitting in there, waiting for the next shot of fuel.....you shoulda pulled the trigger - you could have had a good time on here, asking if 60 Plymouth fins would be 'over the top'....

I know, but not having the money was the big deal. My ol man would have probably lent me the $$$ but I had to talk to him first. I could have nabbed it, it was worth it for sure but would have pinned me down pretty hard. Plus, I dunno what was REALLY under all that mud. It was THICK in some places. And I do want one of those, but when it boils down to it I would rather work on my 34 roadster and it needs all the time and money I can throw at it.

it was 4700.00 firm (cry :D)

  11. It's probably a good thing you didn't buy it, because if you had I would have called up Marcy and had her print up some " I hate Chris!" t-shirts. :D

By the way, do you have a magnet or something else implanted in you because it sure seems to me like old iron is attracted to you in some unnatural way?

I don't recognize it but there were probably a lot of cars done up in a similar fashion back in the 50's early 60's. Looks like a really fair price for what was there though.

This be the 48 my dad built up in about 54. Frenched, shaved, custom grill, trunk damage all match. Strong engine, geared for the road. 3 spd column. It was tropical rose and snowshoe white when we last saw it. Sold for $275 as I recall in Chicago in about 1958
