I have a neighbor who is a s****per/collector. He calls me when he finds interesting auto/oil stuff. He had this sign today. He was told it was taken off of an old service station years ago. It's about 3 feet tall. It looks familiar, but nothing I can put my finger on. I guaranteed him someone here would recognize it. Any help?
That looks familiar to me aswell.Reminds me of a vintage pic of a tall building in newyork. Maybe Empire State Building.
Other side up, look up "shield stamps" as I know of an art deco modular gas station building that had all kinds of trading stamp signs.
Not sure why but I think that may have been a railway "specific train brand" logo. I looked yesterday but I could not find it. It strikes me that it was used for a "long distance train" logo (like the Empire Builder etc. train) as opposed to a railway line company logo. I will keep looking. Neat find.
Woah! That is a dangerous metal that is contaminated with deadly properties. Pack it carefully and send to me at once for proper disposal. Huh, ain't buying it? That is an awesome deco metal piece, I think it may be part of a station facade and not a specific company sign. But who knows, I only know it is way cool! ~sololobo~
I saw that identical thing in the middle of the haunted forest, attached to the base of a huge tree, no doorbell... But tiny footprints led right up to it, we got out of there...
yes, another hamber also id'ed it as a side panel off of a 1940's coachbuilt he****, I found a pic online of a he**** with very similar panels, thanks everyone. Now I just have to decide if I hang it on my wall, or p*** it along to see life on the side of a he**** again. 30 minutes to id, you have to love the HAMB.
Apparently somebody would rather not let the cat out of the bag or share with the forum... Perhaps there are some here that seek to "grab it" for a good price long before any of us know what it is or truly how valuable it is?? ?
