Damn this is too funny! Ive spent the last week watchin the 2 seasons I bought on dvd on ebay,I was a fan when it ran kinda a 1960s version on miami vice,go figure same writers and 1/2 of the same actors worked in both series....heard it went off the air because the budget was to high not a ratings issue.with out a doubt one of the best in years, thanks for this thread
FYI...about 7 years ago I was in the hard rock hotel & casino in Vegas, they have a coffee shop with a 50s theme sittin there kinda 1/2 lit when in walks John aka Pauley sat next to us with his wife,we invited them to our table and spent about 2 hours talkin how he got the gig..started as a tech advisor..koolguy acts like the guy on the shhow but MUCH smarter...most the stories I cant print here but damn funny and nice guy.He lived in Vegas
I have most of the episodes on VHS but if it's out on DVD I'll have to pick that up. So no gold Desoto around a 58?
I loved it, watched every episode on my 59 Philco Predicta tandem, in one episode Luca shot a Predicta just to see it die. My favorite episode was when Rotondi were on, they were an amazing Polka band, they did a song called "PolKa Saved My Life" I saw Rotondi open up for Brave Combo in Cicero Illinois in 1984, they blew my mind.
Ratatat, you must be an old fuk. I remember them all, Brodrick Crawford was ***s. I remember the shotgun rack you speak of but don't remember which show it was on.
I knew a guy in Vegas who put together several cars for filming of the series. He had a junkyard off of Craig Blvd, near Nellis AFB, back before development, property values, and the NASCAR track all but eliminated the yards.
If anybody on here knows anyone in the industry, this would be great back on TV again... I even think Private Eye needs another go! ~Jason
There might not be enough episodes to sell it for syndication, usually they like shows to have at least 65 episodes for some reason. Crime Story was kind of an exception, with the pilot split into two episodes there's 44 total. Private Eye I don't even remember seeing new. Even Crime Story isn't being run that I know of now, although Sleuth network could always pick it up.
I dunno if it is STILL around on DVD in this day of "everything is streaming",but I know it was because I own it.
Really enjoyed watching crime story. Another good to series was dark skies set around late 50,s early 60,s. Sci-fi with old cars in it....what more could you want.
I remember that episode where they were hiding out at the nuke test houses with the mannequins."Get me out of here Paully"Love that 300 C!
