I am looking for detailed pictures of any car running a crank drive fuel pump. What like to see it on a Small Block Chevy.

belt driven? nascar, and i think sprint cars too, used a cable driven pump. then there is the mechanical fuel injection pump that runs off the front of the motor.

pushrod driven pumps have never let me down, but that doesn't really answer your question.

Cam driven fuel pumps for mechanical fuel injection are pretty common (or at least were in back when), crank driven - don't know much about

Looking to see if anyone is using a Crank Mandrel and running the same style of mechanical fuel pump that would run off the cam.

Try Mercury Marine many of their pumps for thir fuel injection run off of a belt via the crank.

Not looking for a belt drive. I am looking for a pump that is driving directly off the crank.

like a diesel? they use gears right off the crank.
or like a potvin blower, run straight ahead of the snout?

Cam driven only if its not a belt drive fuel pump,
to high an rpm on some pumps can cause cavitation....most need to be 50-57%

    Tony:

I think you're correct. I spoke with a buddy, Ex top Fuel and he recalls the older Scott's Injectors had a crank driven pump. He said that pump turned at a 1:1 ratio, where cam driven run 2:1.
