How about some stuff for the "BIG" block Desoto/Chrysler engines?...I really need a Finned head...bigticket www.pixhost.com/pixg/goodieman/dtc2.jpg
Here's one to keep you going. I also have some pics somewhere of a flathead six with a GMC type blower mounted on the side. I wiil have to see if I can find them,
My gut tells me these engines would respond better to a blower than a turbo, being all torque and low revving ... I'd be VERY interested in following along with your mates progress, I have a '48 Ply daily driver and an unused megasquirt and EDIS ignition ... -Sven
My '48 is stock right now and 9" at it's lowest point ... sad ... Fatman Fab sells a 3" dropped upright kit for 39-56 Chry Corp mosheens, which also relocates the upper shock mount somewhere reasonable like the frame ... the Chry engineers were on a crack day when they designed the shock locations. $380 and page 17 of their catalog. I purchased a set and they're a fine looking part. Be advised, the dropped spindles requires modification and bending of the steering arms to regain reasonable geometry and you'd probably want to install new kingpins and bushes. If you want more drop, which we all do, Easton will sell you 2" dropped coils. Eaton springs also sells 3" dropped/dearched springs for the rear. They recommend against the use of blocks (well, they sell $500/pr springs) to lower it further, but I'm planning to just ignore them ... with just enough power to rip the hell out of a wet paper bag I doubt there will be axle wrap to make a difference. One thing to note, there isn't much room under the stock rear fenders and the location of the rear frame rails makes it difficult to tub the inner fenders much. Much wider tyres will be a biatch to get in there without some careful fabbing. My intent is to carefully choose steelies with perfect offset and to pie cut and fill the inner fenders to give me 2-3" more. Any opinions/tips from this august body would be much appreciated. A final note, one can obtain brackets to permit one to install GM calipers mated to a mopar rotor enabling the use of disk brakes at the front. I also understand that a Belvedere rear axle is almost a bolt in replacement for the stock item and is 2" wider overall. If anyone is interested in the disk brake conversion I'll look up the details and post 'em. -Sven
Here's a couple more that inspired my flathead... Enjoy, Pete 33 Dodge panel from Rodders Journal some time ago- How about the chromed factory head on this one...
Have a look at this auction before it closes http://www.trademe.co.nz/structure/auction_detail.asp?id=29773115
I just got new 3" lower rear leafs for my 50 Plymouth wagon fron Jamco in Santa Rosa, Ca. (707) 544-4950. www.jamcosuspension.com Haven't installed them yet, but they look like a good product, have the anti-friction ****ons installed, the guy I spoke with was very knowlegable, and the price was way less than $500. FWIW they also said they could supply a disc conversion kit, but I didn't discuss that with them.
I've had a couple of PM's about selling the head and intake and haven't gotten back to anyone yet because I don't have them here. I'll go get them this week and put them up for sale since I'm not gonna use em. So if you PM'd me, I'll get back to ya this week. I need to look em over real good before I sell em so that I can feel good about em.
Guys I sold the engine I had for sale cheap mentioned in my Dec '04 post on this thread. Have had a lot of PM's in the last few days asking about it. You guys missed a helluva deal, sold it for $100, machine shop valve job, tons of new overhaul parts, etc. Sorry!
I've been searching the internet all week looking for Tattersfield intakes and heads for the plymouth flat six and haven't found ANYTHING? Am I doing something wrong or are these things that rare? Anybody got any info, pictures, etc... on them? Thanks.
I've got a Tattersfield intake and Edmunds head on mine. I don't have any pics on this computer, but I've posted before, and I'm gonna look for those
