Curious if anyone is running Coker's Excelsior Stahl Sport radials on their ride? If so, curious how you like them?

Certainly an investment at approx. $800-$1K a set, but I do like the fact that they are radials that look a lot like a bias ply tire.

I'm running the 5.50/16 and 7.50/16 Excelsior Radials on my roadster and have been happy with them. One rear was out of round and they replaced it. I'm also running balancing beads in the rears. Have approx. 30,000 miles on them now and should be able to get another 10k on them if I'm easy on the gas. They also track well at a consistent 90 mph down the road, or even blasts well over 100.

Thanks. What is a balance bead? Did you need to do that because you couldn't get them to balance correctly?

Second 32 roadster with a set. 500/16s and 750/16s on So-Cal pin drive knockoffs balanced with tape on weights. I've only driven the current roadster about 1000 miles but they seem to ride smooth with no shake or vibration and they track straight. Putting another set of the same sizes on steelie's on my current build/32 Ford PU.

Are any of you running the 16" Excelsiors tubeless?

I was running 16" Excelsior bias on the Zipper and had problems with one being out of round and suffered bad wheel hop. Bias Excelsior's are no longer, so bit the bullet and went with radials . Switched to the radials, with tubes, and so far no issues. From a pure looks point of view, the bias certainly looked better than the radials. Too, there isn't a lot of "big and little" effect with the radials.

35 lbs I did notice while looking on Coker's website that they now say tube or tubeless on some Stahl Radials.
