I was reading street rodder the other day (yea i know the mag sucks but i had nothin better to do) and they had a car in there from hollywood hot rods that actually looked kinda cool. I dont have any pics of it but its in bare metal with louvers all over it (over 1000 louvers). It seems pretty different so i was just wondering what you guys thought of it? Anyone have a pic to post for those who didnt see the article?

The car was built by a guy in northern California...He call's himself
Hollywood..Thus he calls his shop Hollywood's Hot Rod..Not to be confused with Burbanks Hollywood Hot Rods..He even tryed to say he has the right
to the name yet it's not copyrighted by him...there's Lawers and junk all
in the mix...I did see the Cheesey Graider at LA roadster show..and I thought it was dumb..Theres a reason for louvers..and he looked like he
reninto a press at 100 miles an hour.,..TOO MUCH....
As for the "TV" Roadsters I've seen the process of the build over time in person those are two of the coolest "NEW" Built 32 I've seen in along time
along with Rudys Black 32 and Jimmy Whites Comming Soon 32...

  4. don't like it. "Cheese grater" is right. Evel, bring that sucker to Wisconsin, next time. We can drive it right thru the cheese factories, grating and shredding the cheese and make big bucks. Heh, heh, heh.

This is the car you talking about? To each is own, it is what it is.

This car was at the same show, I'm really digging it.

I don't know who's building it, But I found this concept drawing on Poteet's websight, so I'm guessing it's being built for him.

You just got to love Josh Shaw's art. To bad he doesn't post on here anymore.

I would never louver anything hat much. it's different

I like it! That thing is different. Not the same old thing over and over and .... I'm also a beleiver in not knocking someone elses idea's of what's cool. It's his idea and I think it streches the envelope with louvers. I would think that now it's been done, there will be more to come. (follower's) Not leader's like him.

    Just my take, Tommy Mc

  9. r.e. the Poteet rendering:
That looks like a Miller grill and "skirt"(or whatever you call the thingee that covers the front axle). I'm continually amazed by how many new ways people are interpreting traditional, and making it look beautiful.

I don't like it, butt I also think those wide, flat radials kill it even more. Maybe it'd look better with some skinny bias?

Saw it in Street Rodder today, interior looks very cool but a little uncomfortable. All steel, no padding on the seats, didn't care for all the louvers but kinda dug the frame.

    That's a big wind-whistling piece of shit...

Looks like he pissed off the louver guy and is now trying to claim he meant to do it all along.

It's the 4-wheeled version of the razor-blade bike without the all-important fear factor. [IMG] [IMG]

I think it might have been kinda cool if he'd done it to one of those gay new $25k retractable roof Convertable bodies from Dearborn. [IMG]

  19. Easy on the razor blade bike. Conder was my neighbor and is a real good guy. He built that bike because people always gave him crap about choppers being dangerous and he wanted to show what dangerous really was.

And yes, narrow bias plys and narrower wheels would make all the difference on that louver-mobile. Even then, it still wouldn't hold a candle to the Ardun.

Got to admit it is a way to get some attention (and your car in a mag) without having any taste or talent.

Wow, fucking lame if You ask me. I saw the car out in Reno at Hot August Nights. What a waste of a good '32 roadster. But then again, I'm tired of seeing '32 roadsters. There are other kool cars to build guys. (I do like that Ardun powered one on here, though) [IMG]

BUILD SOMETHING OTHER THAN A 32 ROADSTER.
Also, I wasn't TOO impressed with that Hollywood Hot Rods show. Yes, the crew is talented. But, it was a new body, new frame, he had it painted. He pretty much bolted together a KIT CAR, except for some motor mounts, and shaving the cowl vents. About the onlt real metal work was installing the '40 Dash. Mixed thoughts on that show. Also, I would have swapped some parts between the cars. [IMG]

Conder's bike and that louver press 32 are not even in the same ballpark if you ask me. I actually like both and at the same time, have no desire to own either one. I like looking at them...

The person I really feel for is Steve Stanford, he did the art for that 32, and actually drew all those louvers, ouch!

Its funny being a new member to the site and reading all the negativity about other peoples talent, ideas etc. If we all had the same idea of what is cool we'd all be driving the same cars, dating the same looking/style of women, how fucking boring.Yes I did build the Cheesegrater and we built it in under 40 days, and not for some gay tv show. It wasnt an ASSEMBLED car. :You dont just pick up the phone and order a dimple died chassis, or an ALL Stainless quickchange (besides the center section), That car had less than 70 test miles on it and it was ran from New York to Los Angeles in 7 days with speeds in excess of 110 for over 2 hours straight without ONE problem. If you dont like the car cool, if you do cool, but no need to talk shit about someones talent and ideas. And to the person that wants to get into my business about whethter I own the name or not (Hollywoods Hot Rods) Ill scam a few issues from 1993 with my name in them if it would make you feel better.

    Re-Poteet,s Artwork.
I spent christmas in Memphis with George and he showed me the artwork.
Steve Moal is doing the nose(miller inspired) and bellypans. The car is then going to Dave Lane for the chop and everything else.
George want,s the car to look like something an old Indy mechanic would have built.
Yes, he is fortunate that he is rather wealthy but he worked very hard for it and a nicer guy you would not meet.
Also-he went 191mph at Bonneville this year in first gear!!

[/ QUOTE ]Hmmm.......Dont talk shit about blah, blah, blah??? Isn't that what this H.A.M.B is for? For sharing ideas & experiences? Just because you have resources, skills, customers w/ deep pockets does not make or break a vehicles asthetic appeal. My own ( insignifigant ) opinion is that "cheese grater" car looks stoopid. If "Trad Hot Rods" were originaly built for speed & racing then form follows function & so also that "look". Aren't louvers for ventilation & heat dissipation??? So....The doors & all? Thats not "pushin the envelope", it's just obnoxious.
