This car was on the cover of the February 2001 Hot Rod magazine, the owners name is Dave Lotz. He built the car in the late 50's early 60's when he was a kid. Its a real bitchin car and I still think about the car almost 6 years after the magazine was published. So one day I couldnt stop thinkin about it and I sat down and looked through my ridiculous amount of car magazines to find this issue. Has anyone seen this car at shows or in any other magazines, anyone got more pics, does anyone know the owner???????? Its the single reason i WILL build a 40 ford one day. And if no ond has seen this car.... post some more pics of any hoodless 40 fords

Saw it at the WOW here in KC a few years ago. Still hoodless. Still wearing primer. Think it had a few more doo-dads and pinstriping on it.

Cool. Did he get a different set of fenders on the back? I was seriously trying to figure out a way to own that car when it was available.

Uhh.....if that question was directed at me, I have no idea. The Sedan was owned by another HAMB'er in between 8th grade genius and my dad.

Yeah, it was. The fenders it had when I last seen it at the HAMB drags were hacked out for clearance. It was running some pretty big cheater slicks.

    Anyway, cool cars all around.

Here's a couple shots of mine.
I've run hoodless for 10+ years.
Only major mechanical problem was a fried unilite module due to rain. Worst part, is the idiots that don't understand the style of running a 40 hoodless that always ask when/if I'm going to put a hood on it.
Cool part is when a greybeard walks up and say's don't put a hood on it, cuz that's how all the badass ones ran back in the day!
There's a 40 from here in the Minneapolis area that has run hoodless since the 70's with all the hood hinge holes filled! It's chopped and has always run a radical flathead. It has a fuel injection unit on it now, but at one time it ran a 6-71 GMC blown flathead with 6-2's!!!
