Morning Everyone! Anyone attempt to sell anything on Opposing Cylinders? There Isn't a whole lot of traditional cars on there. There are a few. Just curious of your overall experience. If it was worth it or not? Thanks!
I noticed that too. Seems like they always have new stuff posted. But I'm not sure if the other stuff sells or just falls to the bottom of the list.
Listing a car on Apposing cylinders isn't inexpensive but may reach a bigger market. I see Cornhusker has his somewhat OT sedan on there that would cause me to drive a somewhat OT car to Deuce Days NW if I had a winning power ball ticket before someone bought it.
I've never heard of it. As for BringATrailer, they're awesome if you've got a low mileage Porsche or something, but traditional cars do not seem to do very well there.
People are not going to search for your ad. You need to bump the original ad (not the 34th bump of the original ad) to the top at least weekly to have a chance for the most views. If you want it sold, you have to be an active seller.
Its an instagram/youtube thing, he has a large social media following. If your car appeals to the 35-55 age group it may be a decent place to advertise it. If you really need to get rid of it Hemming's online auctions seem to do pretty well. Now does not seem to be the best time to sell, but it sure is a good time to buy as prices are the lowest I've seen ever on just about everything I have ever wanted. EDIT: I just found your car a 40 sedan. Here is the last 40 sedan that sold on bring a trailer. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1940-ford-deluxe-10/ You might need to revise your price if you want it to sell.
Is this the same guy with the youtube channel, Opposing cylinders? If it is , sorry I do not care for that guy at all.
I agree that now is not the best time to sell. But wanted to try anyway. My grandpa is not doing well health wise. I wanted to free up some cash to try and buy one of his cars before they disappear... Is that one comparable though? Its pretty much a stocker. The one I have is updated with dropped axle etc.? I'm not trying to start a pissin match... I'm honestly asking..! Thanks!
Trying to find comps for pricing is hard. I've been watching '40's for years as I could never afford one but always wanted one (I have a project coupe), but now I feel like I could buy 3 for what they are selling for now vs what they were 15 years ago. The one one BAT has really nice paint and interior (would cost more than the selling price to do both) and was a total bargain. This coupe, a fresh resto, sold for $13K https://www.mecum.com/lots/1120134/1939-ford-deluxe-coupe/?aa_id=592372-0 insanely cheap but was all the market would bare. There was a red colored '40 sedan in the HAMB classifieds for months similar to yours from @Lakeside65 he kept knocking down the price and took a long time to sell in the low teens I believe. Maybe he can give you some advice on selling. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1940-ford-deluxe-sedan.1307956/ There is a lot of inventory out there (6000 boomers die each day and they were the gate keepers of these cars) and less interested buyers (again boomers did this gate keeping). Sorry to hear about your grandpa, dealing with family on matter of money can be tough.
