Holly the girl who grooms my dogs owns and drives her Caddy Hearse as her daily rig. Early 60's (61 or 62) It's pretty thrashed but she drives it like she stole it anyhow....

This is my 1960 Merc. It's a coroner's car that was converted by Amblewagon. It served Santa Ana California and I'm sure there's been some unpleasantness in back.

The local Ink Pushers tatoo shop guy drives around in a Hearse. I think the idea is kind of cool, though my dad said it was retarded and morbid.

When I was working with my Dad in the 80's as a contractor, we had painter who had a 62 Caddy Hearse as his work truck. It still had the rollers, so he made a rig that held paint cans, brushes, whatever on the passenger side, and his stepladders on the drivers side. That way he could pull it out and drop a support leg down, and get to anything in the back without climbing in. His company name was Pleasant Valley Painting, and his motto "The last paint job you'll ever need". He always had work, but went through helpers pretty often.

We own a 72 Caddy miller meteor 3 way loader we use most weeks. Mainly on weekends for swap meets. Sleep in it a far bit as well but that takes a while to get used to. Big interior but when the lights go off all of a sudden its gets real small real fast. We keep getting buzzed by something that you catch out of the corner of your eye. Only way to describe it is that it looks like a cluster of big black sand flys but its not. As soon as you turn to look directly at it it disapears.
We have gotten used to it as we figured if it was going to hurt us it would have by now.
I do not beleive in ghosts however I do believe in outer body energy. Just like that pins and needles that tingles up your spine when you get scared.

And oh yeh by the way Chicks really dig dead sleds.

  18. First one I looked at buying was a 41 Packard.

A kid from our high school in Fayetteville NC had an early 50s Cad Hearse in 1965-66. A bunch of us decided to drive to Myrtle Beach in it for a weekend. Gawd! It road good but the trip cost us a fortune...in 1965-66 dollars. Even split 6 ways we all had to caough up a couple or 4 dollars. When it came time for tires he dumped it.

I was going to buy a 1953 Children's Hearse, white landau Caddy short wheelbase at that time for $450 from a local funeral home which was moving their old service cars and replacing with new. It was pristine but I found a nice old 47 Plymouth for $150 and saved myself $300 but had a good bit of brake work to do on it.

ha,ha i had a super clean white 71 laid down on gangsters with straight pipes i bought it stock at an auction for 600,.girls were crazy about it!
and people would either love it or give u the yuk face,i finally sold it on ebay for 3700 to some middle aged idiot who couldnt turn a wrench to save his life,it was my buisness at the time to "buy and sale" .And as one of the guys said they are scary at first but after a few weeks and one or two drunk naps in the back then you can start to really enjoy those cars.BE READY TO SPEND ON FUEL IF ITS YOUR DAILY GIG.

My 63 miller meteor stops traffic. Literally. I've had guys get out of their cars at stop lights to take photo's of it. Most people love it but the church opposite my house used to try and get it towed it offended them so badly. It's straight black and that's the way it's gonna stay cos I think they lose a bit of their sinister edge when they get flames and murals on them.

It's a combo so was used as an ambulance and a hearse (best of both worlds for hauntings i guess) my mate has a similar 64 and a medium told him there was a lot of screaming in the back!

of all the cars i've owned or own this thing is the most fun and I love it to death....HA! can't believe i just typed that

You said selling your wife on one(good luck) you can't even get anyone to take up payments on one (wife that is) let alone sale one.

    I had a '55, a '56 and two '70s. Haven't used one as a daily in like 12 years!

Once, my dad had minor hand surgery, and had to be driven home from the hospital. What did I use? My daily!

I kind of got stuck in their little side parking lot by the ER. It was winter, and it was cold, and the drive'through awning over the ER entrance had some garage doors on it on either side, which were down. I went in and asked the short, Estelle Getty lady behind the desk if she could open them so I could get through, and she said okay. She asked what I was driving, and I said it was a hearse.

As I walked back to my car, the lady chased me out the door and called out across the parking lot after me, "Are you here to pick up a body?!??"

I turned, chuckled, and answered, "Yeah... it's my Dad!!".

The lady shrugged, went in, and the doors opened. I started 'er up and pulled through, meeting my dad at the hospital entrance as he was being wheeled out by a nurse. You should've seen the look on BOTH their faces! Dad didn't realize that's what I was bringing!

I think he mentioned that the only ride he was taking in that was the one home... for the time being. :D
