Anyone tried the classic instruments fuel sender unit?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by big hugh ness, May 3, 2013.

  1. Guys.
I was browsing around the internet for a replacement fuel sender unit for my 55 Century, when I came upon the summit racing unit here.

Sure looks different to the thing I pulled outta my tank this afternoon.
    Anybody out there tried one?
    Seem cheap enough...
Actually, the more I look at it the less I think it's gonna work. No stock connection to fuel line for starters...

You need a 55 Buick gas tank sending unit. Sending units for aftermarket gauges don't usually work on factory gauges. The sending unit must be matched to the gauge. Try a Buick old car parts house or a used unit.

  3. hi Tommy. Yeah, got to thinking about this and you're right. This might "fit" the tank, but it's setup for an aftermarket gauge.
