Seriously. I used to collect and work on old outboard boat motors and I have lots of parts left. Most of these parts are from 40's 10hp motors and smaller.

Most outboards and parts - I sold everything of real value long ago and I have been trying to come up with ideas on what left overs to keep for possible hot rod applications. I need to make some room but I'd hate to get rid of vintage metal that may come in handy for the future.

I don't have an artists' imagination so if you know any practical uses - let me know. I have seen gas tanks used but that's about it. I don't know if any of this stuff was used before but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I could see that some of the lower unit pieces could be used for grille teeth in customs or axle fairings on lakes style cars with belly pans and noses since they are finned and streamlined airfoil looking castings.

It's going to be kinda hard to match stuff up since the old outboards were two stroke engines instead of four, however, the rods in the old Evinrude and Johnson outboards look real similiar to Chevy SB rods. Good luck my friend.

  4. Outboard throttle cables with the nice stainless sliders, threaded ends, and the teflon inner lining make great kickdown cables for Mopars (904's and 727's) Come in different lengths, easy to mount and last forever.

As you all probably know cable adjustment on those boxes is critical if you want them to live, as pump pressure is also determined by throttle position and not just the kickdown.

Sorry, no. I have mostly Martins with a few evinrudes.

Forgot to mention these tanks - cowlings - lower units are aluminum - NOT the ****py mag composite of later years. Something about the lower skegs would be cool. I plan to eventually do an aluminum sprint so I'll look later...Thanks

Have you tried the Antique Outboarder group to sell the remains? Do a web search.

Lindross used (I think) a sea king outboard motor cover as an air cleaner on the 'Krylon Special'

I use an old Evinrude 7 gallon gas tank for my Willys plow truck. Even has it's own gas gauge.

I had a 46 Military Dodge WC 26. There was a problem with reverse so I got a boat motor control and mounted it on the front of the seat. One was for reverse and one control was for choke. Got lostsa laughs and worked great.
