i was looking for replacment floors pans for my 51 ford. mac's has what looks like the original stamping but god the photo of the pan is terrible. has anyone used them? the pans don't really look like that do they? i could do better giving a monkey a hammer.
unfortunately i'm not that skilled or have the tools, and with the rot it's easier just to buy the pans. i have called around to all the metal shops, body shops, ect. in my area to have pans made and i get dumb answers like.."we'll with what your looking to do you can just buy a new car!", or just silent when i ask if they have a bead roller or metal brake. like they have no idea what i'm talking about. how a machine shop or metal working shop doesn't have atleast one of those tools is beyond me.
check out Direct Sheet Metal in socal they supply most of what you see offered 3 factories one does custom orders to your blueprints
Dont know about the 49-51 pans, but last year we got a set for a 54 ford and that is about what they looked like. They were pretty bad. You would be better off with some sheet metal and a hammer.
hey gasserjohn, 40LUV thanks for the info. have you made a purchase from either of the companys? where you happy with the product? jdh6fan that is a joke, thanks for the heads up. 80 bucks a pop for that garbage is insane
the fit was perfect even in a twisted A......... to repeat alot of what you see advertised nation wide is made by direct sheet metal....look at their web site.........custom shop does hi end aluminum for the local big time racers......fyi for some reason it is cheaper to buy their product from a dealer then direct?.........ifyou email or call them the owner usually gives it personal attention the truck lid was made out of thicker stuff it was perfect smooth
True To Death, Rick McIntosh here...President of MAC's Antique Auto Parts. We use Google Alert and I saw our name come up so I thought I would chime in. We get those panels (1A-11135-RFF and LFF) from a company called "F W MANUFACTURING AND FABRICATION" out of Indiana. I agree that these are "rough" at best but we have not found another source for these application items with original styling (Street Rod/Custom "smooth" you may find). They do look like that and do not want you to think otherwise. If you find "authentic reproductions of better quality" in the market for similar pricing PLEASE contact me back at rickm@macsauto.com or 800-777-0948 ext 102. Not the answer you were looking for but hope it helps. Happy 1951 Motoring. Rick (MAC's A.A.P.)
