George...nobody mentioned the aluminum valve cover adapters that Speedway sells. They're about 3/8ths/1/2 inch thick and they're made to adapt early valve covers to modern center-bolt heads . Just cut the webbing out of the middle and instant spacers! The valve cover mounting holes are threaded but just run a drill bit down through them and use some long valve cover bolts...Viola! They're cheap too.
PS..make sure the adapter holes line up with the holes in the heads. Mine didn't and I had to plug the holes and redrill them.

1/2" spacers wont do the job, I'm pretty certain of that, just the girdle itself is more than 1/2" thick.

Yes, George definitely has done (and is doing) his Smallblock homework!
    He's a walking shop manual...
Best part is his 'support group'! The material comes at us like grenades!
Thank you, HAMB guys that still talk to George! :D

That, 's a smoking deal on the cam and workings.
I just got my cam today and well it was more for just the cam.
But I did score a stud girdle to make a pattern off of and use tell I get some made.

I find thick cork ( about .340 thick valve cover gaskets at Jefferson ) about $10.00 pr.

Running spacers with a lower set of standard gaskets and the thick upper set, to clear
    327 covers.

Got an extra new set of thick gaskets still in box if you need them.
I can replace them at spring Jefferson.

Currently .620 lift with 1.5 rocker but if I can find 1.437 dia. mach. roller valve springs, that can do .681 lift
will change over to 1.65 rocker arms.

What springs are you currently running, K-800's?

Whats your installed height. 1.85? I was going to go with K-Motion K-800's they stack solid at 1.085, they will probably work for you with the big rockers, if your installed height is 1.85, you would still be a little better than .080 away from coil bind @ .680 net lift, that's leaning on it pretty good, but it should work. Are you using +.100 valves? Is that .680 number net or gross?
Pretty sure the K-800 is about the most spring available in a 1.44-1.48, unless you get into some super exotic $tuff.

I looked at your Howards springs on Summit, they don't have as much pressure as the K-Motions. I'd like to ask a bit about your combo. What do you shift it at? Are you running ***anium retainers? 2.05 Steel valves? What are the cam specs? If they would support my shift point without valve float, I would actually like to run a little less spring than the k-800's, IF I can get away with it.

That was my first choice, but when you really start digging through the catalog, Howards has some decent 1.44-1.48 springs too. I really like a flat wound dampener in a street driven roller combo, because if a spring breaks, the dampener will hold the valve up. I gotta give this some more thought.

theres another plus to running the 1.44/1.48 springs besides not having to cut the snot out of the rockers, the NEXTEL cup guys use that size, so there are lots of cheap second hand ***anium retainers on ebay.;)

Those should fly nicely...As long as your covered by the margin, and not on the raged edge, your golden. Too much= you know. Too less=you know. Installed looks good, as well as the pressures. 7* or 10* locks? ***anium?
I know secrets aren't always given;). It will be done right none the less......!

I'm late to the party but my corvette covers wouldn't clear my roller rockers much less a stud girdle which I'm not using. 100_7455_zps5b209290.jpg

Relieving for spring OD? I ran HS rockers, and they were good for a 1.550. No interference with a 1.5 ratio. IDK. Been a while, but that flew at the time, and never a scuff undernieth.

I prefer 7*'s, I don't trust 10*s. I have never pulled a lock through a retainer, and 10's don't grip the valve stem as tight.

I have Cranes, in my experience they usually need to be cut at 1.55.
