I want to put Lake Pipes on my 64 Galaxie Wagon, I also want them to be functional. Can anyone tell me where to find them, any suggestions. Nobody around here is using them. Please email me direct with web site info, or any info you may have. Pat

  2. In mid 70's I put a set on my '69 Camaro. To connect off of the back of the headers I had used universal flex tubing to connect to each lake pipe but the angle was kind of goofy & the flex tubing really should have been replaced with a custom made pipe. I eventually ditched them & ran header mufflers & straight pipes back (which I liked better anyway). I can't remember for sure who made them - but - for some reason I think it may have been Thrush.:D Gary 4T950 Chevy Guy

I'm runnimg them on a 31 Ford PU & a 58 Sedan. Got them welded into the system permanent. You can get them through Speedway or Hot Rod & Custom Supply.

not to hijack or anything, but i was going to ask something similar tonight. i'm thinking of running them on my daily (not traditional, but it's still a hot rod) '84 delta88. right now it's straight-piped anyway but i wanna do the lakes. i'm just going to get a couple 6' sticks of 2 1/4" stainless exhaust tubing some flex tube and a couple flanges and put it all together with a welder. it'll run about $100-$120 to do:D . i have do to have it removeable for inspection time. even though it's not legal now, it's less noticeable than a couple pipes running down the side.:p

anyway, here's my addition...what are you guys with the lakes pipes using to hang them? just trying to figure out what i wanna do with it and looking for some ideas. thanks!

You can get them right in your own state. Brockman Mellowtone Mufflers sell them. Hagerstown.

Back in the day they were 1-3/4" and I had them on my '48 Chevy coupe in 1955. Sometime later they also became available in 2". They come in several lengths I think the longest is 80". I have the 1-3/4" x 80" on my '49 Merc. Hangers are a separate item when you order I think. My hangers bolt to the frame.

I run a functional set on my '62 Galaxie. I used mandrel bends I got at the swap meet and exhaust tubing I got locally, to run them from the exhaust manifolds through cable-opertated cut-outs. The other side of the cut-outs route the exhaust through short gl***packs, and then out the back.

When the lakes pipes are open, the big 428 with a heavy cam sounds like a big block ski boat going down the road. I love it!

Oh, and I got mine form Mooneyes in Santa Fe Springs, CA. Just a 20 minute drive for me. If I remember correctly, they offer 'em in 3 different lenghths.

  13. VAPHEAD has been banned from the HAMB! Don't know him or know why and it does not matter so, anyone who does, please don't hijack thread or get O/T. thanks.

Buy the stainless ones, that when you scratch them you can polish it out.

Jesus Christ. Talk about being a *****. You must be a member of the HAMB police? It is kinda sad on my part but I've been watching your posts ever since you posted about the 38 Plymouth. My God you come across as a know it all *****. Did you ever do anything with the Plymouth? From looking at some of your old threads you have claimed a few times that you got some good deals on things. Good deals meaning that for some reason people are just giving you nice things. Must be pretty nice getting such nice things for free and be a big shot at the same time. Ugh. Oh well. I guess I better get back to busting my *** so I can pay the bills and somehow find a way to afford working on the everything else. I'm sorry I can't be a rich know it all myself. Toodles.

my project '51 Ford had a set of home made full length side pipes with extremely short muffler (resonators?) type units close to exhaust manifolds on 302 . did not like the sound or the heat from pipes. idea of using some type of manual cut out valve sounds like a good one. mine ran out thru side of front fender. so, now have cut outs (finned caps from Mooneyes) and regular exhaust system that ends at rear end.

Yes Bob :D...I figured if we're gonna dig up obscure threads to talk about contacting banned members, might as well lead them towards the wrong place...it's a trifecta of useless info...
