As far as the filler tube, I was wondering if one of those "Ribbed"(sp) ones could be bent without cracking the chrome?, On the other hand, (yes, I know, five fingers) there is a fella here on the HAMB that makes those real purdy ones, recon he could make one that's " Pre" bent for you/us?
Or am I a complete idiot, wait, don't answer that.

After I had a chance to go back and re-read this thread I have one question, do any of you have the belt dimentions?(sp) I had a problem with finding the front belt on my sbc, I saw alot of the sbc's running the two belt pullies and most people had only one bely on, what's up with that?

I guess, I'll have to look for his post about the ribbed pipe, it was like the old harley tail pipe, remember?

yeah..i know what yer talkin about..Dickster27 sells em..but i would still have to bend it..and im sure i would crack the chrome on it..and it would more than likely (because of my shitty luck) it would kink and crack between one of the ribs and leak like a whore..

if i use my riser..and im not yet sold on the fact that i need to use it..just yet..but if i do..than i will stuff a hickory stick down inside it, the same interior diameter, and bink it over..either with leverage or a little sledge..I think all i need is to move it 1" or maybe even less

Ok, Dickster27 makes them, I think he could bend them as he is making it, somehow, just needs to start kinda low and work it out alittle off center. I think it would be realtively easy to do before the chroming process. But he would probably want to mass produce them to make any money if retooling was involved.

If you're going to go that rout, why would you not just heat the pipe and bend it instead of pounding on it with a bfh and take a chance on breaking it ( the manifold) some where?

yeah ive thought of that too..im sure i will use the smoke wrench some to warm it up so it doesnt resist much..just not enough to blue the chrome

Well hold on< didn't you say before that you were afraid to bend the crimpled or ribbed tube on acount of cracking the chome, so, what's the diff, Biff?,,,,,,,,,,, It could happen either way right? Is blue chrome any worse than cracked chrome?

    I guess so..

but i think i may have a better chance with this thick tube i have holding up to the bending forces..than a thin ribbed tube possibly bending in a crook of a rib and cracking..hell i dont know
but i do know i have 2 un ribbed ones to fuck up before i sink 125 bucks into fucking up a ribbed one..so thats tube-enomics for ya:D

    or maybe Rigg enomics..lol

All of these solutions to the low fan problem require raising the water pump as well as the fan. I saw a hilo (forklift) with what appeared to be a GM V6 of some sort with a neat bracket that held a pulley/fan assembly above the water pump. Looked like it would work in a rod. I did not have time to investigate the details. Any Industrial Truck Mechanics out there that can say if this would work or why it wouldn't?

Yup, know what you're talking about, I think it is a jack shaft type assembly,,,,, right/maybe?

got the same jackshaft deal on one of the Hi-Lo's in my shop..i was looking at that idea too..but the second pulley would be real close to the one on the water pump and in line with it so your pulley diameter on the fan would probably be really small, and you may have to run another idler to take up the tension or to get enough belt around the water pump pulley to make it effective

Ive already got the riser if i Have to go that route..im fighting it till the bitter end

now i got to get to the fridge down in the basement to pop a top on a cold one

i just went out and put my stock type pump and fan on and i think i can make it work..with a good shroud i shouldnt have any probelems,,i hope.

yes it is low, and yes about 1 inch of the blade when it is down at the bottom of the radiator will not be pulling thru the radiator but a good shroud should make up for that..i hope

pictures after i finish my beer:D

Jeez you guys must be on something stronger than the Bud, Dickster27 makes these things. They are cast aluminum , polished not chromed and they are only $34.95 each complete with a chrome cap.

You won't bend them with a hickory pole or heat , but a few posts back somebody actually said he is developing a new one which will fit and clear the waterpump on zips riser without bending ??????

its close 1/2" but I think its doo able

and it misses the lower hose by an inch

i think i still have maybe 1/4 inch or more to move the radiator forward before i final mount it..
