First off, I have no problem with anyone using a modern transmission.
My power train is newer than the cut off.
With that said, how come an AOD trans. is ok here but Mustang II, EFI and some other stuff is not? They all came out about the same time, right?
Hell, even radial tires and electric fans are considered fax pas here.
    Just curious.
I posted this to another thread but didn’t want to hi-jack. So I deleted it.

I would say the OT items tolerated here are because they make a rod more safely drivable, without adversely affecting the 'traditional' look of the rod.

I don't know why. Seems pretty off topic to me. Like modern 5 speed manual transmissions, etc

Build what suits you and talk about the parts that fit here.

Well, that’s kind of my point. I don’t have EFI but if I did and talk about it…..poof. Same goes for MII. Not trying to start a***** storm, just curious.
Reading the AOD threads got me thinking and we all know what happens when I start thinking.
My thoughts are that we are all aging and comfort has become number 1. It could explain the electric windows, AC, power brakes and quiet exhaust.
Oh my god we’ve become our parents! :)

Pretty much unless they ask you don't tell. You can put an overdrive automatic in a car and the only way somone is going to tell outside of counting shifts is to actually look at your shift indicator. With certain 5 speeds the shift handle comes though the floor in pretty well the same spot as the stock shifter and if you take an old shift handle off a junk transmisison and do a little fabricating you have an "original" looking shifter. Keep your mouth shut and no one looking in can tell if you actually have a 39 box or a T-5 unless they are damned good at figuring things out.

If you are standing flat footed in front of a car camera in hand and can see a MII or other independent sticking out like a sore thumb that is for sure not HAMB friendly. That;s the key. That is what folks find offensive. If you have one under your fat fender, you just don't talk about it or show photos of it in your build thread here. Provided it is low enough that that unit doesn't show up visually .
If you have a high dollar head unit on your sound system or AC or ? there are ways to be discrete about those things rather than have them overpower an otherwise traditoinal interior.

Well, I’ve seen the Mods reply to this type of question. A 350 wasn’t available in 1965, nor a 454, etc, but big block and small blocks were so they get a pass.
I’ve no idea of when OD autos came out, but all manufacturers were making auto transmissions. I****ume that’s why they get a pass also.
I PM’ed a Mod because I wanted to see if I could ask some T56 questions, Mod said go for it.
It’s spelled out pretty clear the HAMB doesn’t discuss EFI/M2, etc in the rules.
Read the thread about SEMA, OP clearly states he won’t mention what he wants to market and why, just wants to discuss the show info.

It is because transmissions and brakes for the most part are invisible.. Pinto IFS and EFI on the other hand are a glaring ugly thing that sticks out like a sore thumb and in my opinion rips the heart and soul out of any old car it is used on....
