Did you try to stuff the exaust ends with rolled up chicken wire? It makes a great muffler just roll her pretty tight and toss a screw on the bottom of the exaust pipe to hold her in. You'll be amazed how you can control the sound.
Hey Andy ,I have a few Model B manifolds if you want to try one and A's too. I'll trade you for the extra roadster
I could see them when you first posted , but they are gone now, I think your Photobucket account has ****ped somehow. This was the location of the pic which I saw when I first looked, but it is gone altogether now??? and so are all the rest... http://i416.photobucket.com/albums/pp243/bcchopit/Mikes engine/DSC00071-1.jpg
Hotrodhillbilly23 just posted this thread about a Kaiser banger dragster. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=469700

Eddy Thanks, here is the whole story: I ran that set-up on two engines and the plugs were always a good tan color. But I never could start without choke even when the engine was warm. This never really bothered me but al the four bangers I saw starting never use choke. Last week I felt a lot of hesitation in the throttle when I was driving along. I took the jets out and one of them was blocked with some ****. So I decided to take the carb apart. I cleaned everything, the power valve jet wasn't that clean. Put everything together (I did replace the accelerator pump last year). Turned the idle screws to 1 1/4 turn and pushed the starter. It fired straight up, it never ran this good. Then I took it for a spin but where I live ther so much traffic, a lot of traffic lights so it's always stop and go, not really a long drive under power. I took the plugs out and they were really black, the first plug is also a little wet (thats with the 0.45 jets) I don't have puffs of black smoke when it idles and it does not load up. I changed the jets today to 0.43, the plugs I use are Motorcrafts TT10. Maybe I can go for a longer drive tomorrow. Thanks, Eddy
OK, I checked and the fast four was built for the whole year of 1928. It appears to be about 90,000 cars built with it.
Well i don't really need a B manifold right now but I might at some point. My "little hooptie" (that's what my mom calls it...lol) isn't for sale. All I REALLY want is YOUR cabbie! That thing is fabulous!!!
Sounds like it's not far off if any. You never really know without dyno's or fuel ****yzers but.... it was probably running a little lean before because of the blockage and that could have made it look tan even in stop and go traffic. i wouldn't be concerned about a black plug until i could prove it was that way after some longer distance driving. especially since it's not puffing black out the exhaust. I'll look up the plug and see where it's at on the "hot / cold" chart when i get home. if you do a lot of stop and go type driving you'll usually want a plug on the hot side. Do you have a temp gauge? Was the the plug "gas wet" or "oil wet"?
Andy just let me know when you want her and just pay for the ride and its yours. I did pick up the other cabriolet and now have the B banger motor for it as well. I also found a 5 cam bearing block that you could use
Bill - About your trans fluid Conversation. I was a parts rep for Honda several years back. In the older Hondas they used straight engine oil but they recomended changing it at 15,000 miles??? When they went for extended service intervals this would no longer work. the oil would start to break down. The transmission would start being hard to shift. Honda developed a manual transmission fluid to solve the problem. It even smells a little bit like 90w. It's also sticky so it hangs on to the gears. I was having shifting problems in my Ranger 5spd so I'm now using the Honda. Odd thing, some of the Honda dealers thought the New trans fluid was a scam and continued to use the cheaper motor oil, and at the extended service intervals. And some cars started to have shifting problems. The Honda fluid seems to have the consistancy of 30w and has a service interval of 60,000 to 90,000 miles-- in a Honda. I'd use it in place of ATF in a manual trans.
It looks like a '28 Chevy head adapted to a T engine similar to the work of Neal Jern up in Redding CA. See His Ad Here: http://www.hotforhotfours.com/ads2.html
