PM or Email questions to t.zandell@yahoo.com Located in Chicago Suburbs 1959 ElCamino, the “Aquamino” For Sale. I built this car in 2007 and have had a great time with it. 383ci stroker and 5sp manual make this a great freeway driver, it has been to Jalopy Showdown, HAMB Drags, and all over Illinois as well as camping trips towing my Teardrop. I do not want to sell but have a new project and no room in the shop plus a new truck that needs payments. Body: Stock 1959 Chevy, with 1960 Mercury Grill. I have replaced the floors from the firewall to the compartment in back. Rockers and bracing on both sides were replaced. Recently found a better bed floor and it has been modified so the bed compartment is accessible. Everything shiny was taken down to bare metal, the rest was just shot with color over whatever was there. Re Wired the car with an EZ-Wire kit and everything works like it is supposed to. Rader 15” wheels with recent Firestone radial tires and full size spare. Interior: I did a build thread on the interior http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-aquamino-gets-interior-59-elcamino.698724/ so you can see for yourself how it was done. Most of the parts came from Ciadella. Carpet has a few dirty spots but is very presentable and quiet for a hot rod. Recent rubber in glass and doors, windows seal up tight. Fat Mat throughout the cab so it is mostly quiet. It has a Vintage Air A/C and Heater but I had to pull off the condenser for repair so it needs to be reinstalled and A/C charged. Drive train: 96 Caprice Wagon front clip (Same as Impala SS) with big disc brakes power steering and sway bar. Currently on Eibach lowering springs, but plumbed and wired for air bags, I had some bad luck with poor quality Shockwaves on the front so I went back to springs. Alignment was easy and it runs straight as an arrow. Rear suspension is stock and attaches to a Ford 9” with a 3:70 gear and new Moser axles. The 9” has a disc brake conversion recently installed. Air bags on the back work well for load leveling. Has big trailer hitch mounted to frame, I have towed trailers with Model A, and my dragster with no problems, pulls teardrop trailer like it is not even there. Engine: 383 Stroker with a SCAT rotating assembly. World Products Sportsman II heads Edelbrock Air gap intake and Demon carb. Tremec TKO600 5sp manual transmission. Shorty headers with mandrel bent dual exhaust with old style cut outs behind the front tires. Engine runs strong, freeway driving on Drag Week was 55# of oil pressure, 180deg all day long. Other: When the car was built in 2007 it got all new brake lines, fuel lines, cleaned and coated the gas tank inside, big block radiator, power brakes, new EZ-Wire wiring kit, etc. The Caprice suspension drives straight and it stops straight, never had any alignment issues, tires wear evenly. Successfully completed Drag Week 2016 with no major issues Car is located in Winfield IL, you could fly in and drive it home or have BenD bring it to you. Let me know if you are interested in seeing it in person. Tyler Zandell (224) Five, Three, Two-1518
