Technical Ardun Fitment in Full Fendered '33/34 Ford

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by chickenridgerods, Oct 6, 2022.

  1. I'm wanting to confirm my suspicion that an Ardun won't fit in a full fendered 1933 or 1934 Ford without cutting clearance notches into the fenders where they meet the hood/splash aprons.

    So, does anyone have photos of an Ardun installed in such a car that hasn't required hacking up the fenders, or have seen such an installation? I've only been able to find one so far and that guy cut the fenders.

    I’d ask @IronTrap his channeled car in mock
    Up looks like it could clear but his engine builder has a un channeled, full fender, full hood car I believe and could confirm. I couldn’t find a photo to steal and don’t have time to check the videos for a screen grab.

    hopefully he chimes in!

  3. I seriously doubt it, unless you set the engine way back in the firewall, like the Hemi in the 34 coupe built by Brian Bass.

    I've see a lot of Ardun front corners peeking out of holes in the hood sides of hot rods.

  6. Sorry it's not the best pic, but it is an ARDUN in a 33. I know someone here has one in a full fendered car but I don't have pics handy.

    From the given link 65F84329-8FE6-42FC-8359-26967F76F048.jpeg sure looks like if you want it to stick out the hood sides it can. If you want it to stay inside you can also do that.

  8. The red ‘34 coupe has had its fenders cut and reworked. Looks like the engine needs to be set back as done in the black ‘33 coupe, and maybe raised up a bit, too.

    @Blake 27 Is that ‘33 your car?

    The car that Blake 27 posted is an Aussie car from Victoria. The bottom 2 pics were taken at a River City Reliability Run a couple of years ago.
    Incidentally there are 4 original Arduns in Castlemaine, Vic (population around 10k) but only one is in a running car at present and it's a 33 or 34 coupe. I can't post pics but it will be at our clubs 60th anniversary on Sunday and I may be able to get my son to take pics and post them here.

    This is a friend's '34. Not fendered, but the splash pans and hood had to be reshaped for clearance.
