Years ago I saw a story in Auto Aficionado magazine about Ferguson Foundry, there were photos of GMC Wayne head six's, v8 60 jiggler heads, Arduns etc. All the family members had 200mph red hats

$359 at the factory plus shipping and duty was a lot off money in 1949 considering that a good paying job was probably $40/week if that much.

I have read that an Ardun head can be adapted to a Model A/B block too

Anything can be adapted with a mill and a welder.

  11. You'd have to (literally) cut the head up to do so.

People are probably thinking of the Frick "Ardun" head, which sort of approximates the look of the real Ardun valve cover. It's not a hemispherical head and apparently has a host of functional issues.

Buy the Rodder`s Journal Scrapbook. It`s a good read. A 34 that was on the east Coast owned by the club called the Motor masters. It was drag raced and went thru different versions. Charlie Gilcrest took ownership when the club disbanded and was working on a restoration when his health forced a sale in 2010. IMG_0546.jpeg Bump.

We were beside the engine in their roadster when they were being inspected at Bonneville. It’s nice to see their roadster in the traditional style of center steer and the body on top of 32 rails.
We were busy with our own inspection on ours so no photos by me. A lot of folks were around it. The the supercharger belt shield adds to the whole story on the build..hopefully someone will post it..

Met the widow of an old Iowan Ardun owner. Alas, no Ardun specific parts were left, unless you count the license plates I bought.

Fellow HAMBE @54delray had this for sale earlier this year. The mass-produced scale model runs 400 +. IMG_0773.jpeg IMG_0771.jpeg IMG_0770.jpeg IMG_0769.jpeg

  24. It's a shame they put valves in the block and used the wrong type of gasket.
