I was born in 80. Sedans were like fat girls, they could be great but ya didn't want to be seen with one. Now I'm old, I still feel the same but I've had a few sedans. Mostly based on the price and condition. In the dark they look ok lol
The 4 door hardtop roof on the 56 and 57 Chevys is unique to that configuration, and arguably a better looking roof than the 2 door hardtop, though the proportions are significantly better on the coupe as a whole.
The roof is unique to the 4 door HT. Here's the same model in a 2 door. Sedans were different yet, 2 & 4 doors shared the roofline. And that's a lot of black '57 Chevys!
In the car sales business, there was a saying "you can sell an old man a young man's car, but you can't sell a young man an old man's car". Old man's car meant 4 doors.
I graduated high school in 1980 & we didn't like 4 doors back then either. In fact when we saw or heard something we didn't like, we had a saying...."That is as stupid as rims on a 4 door" Nowadays I don't mind 4 doors & do own a 4 door pictured below. Technically According to the state DMV I own TWO 4 door cars, but "Stubby" (My Avatar) has been altered God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...ar-transport-hauling-open-or-enclosed.614419/
Here is what I say when I see a 4 door car ... "that car has enough doors on one side for the whole car." LOL
Now I know where Stubby's Other Doors went to! God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...ar-transport-hauling-open-or-enclosed.614419/
