Whoops I’m dropping about 35 into a Model A build. I don’t care because it pleases me. I have it a great deal of thought and plunged forward anyways!

This is true, but that'll change if people ever wake up to the fact that these things do not need to be toys. They can be every bit as useful transportation as a new car, especially when the average price of a new vehicle (sold in the US, at least) is now over $50K.

That's a pretty big if though, I suppose.

It seems everything collectible is down, or leveled out currently. Not just collectible cars or car parts. Some still stuck on the high prices, but if they price their stuff high they usually keep it now.

the death of hot rodding has been going on since the 70's and will continue until further notice.

I'm almost 40. I have one project but 4 other "specialty" cars. I come across something I "need" on marketplace almost once a week, but so far have the willpower to say no to more projects. Having a bunch of cars, they always need something so that keeps me busy enough. When I said to my wife recently that I didn't want project cars when I'm older she said "You'll still have project cars when you're 75", we both agreed they would probably be less ambitious.

With the exchange and shipping to Canada for several years, parts prices are no joke. You either sell your project or forge ahead and pile up parts for your project that are much more expensive than they should be. That's my current status. If I wasn't spending money on hot rod parts I'd be wasting it somehow. Heck my daily driver had a computer go bad this week, that will be almost $2K.

Prices in my area haven’t changed much. Actual sales numbers could very well be different. Certain models that are less mainstream can be had for a deal. Project cars are all over the scale.

Those are both current bid, and honestly I don't think you can judge the market by BJ.

I was going to make a BJ auction joke, but I don't want to get kicked off the forum.... Lol

I couldn’t get 1/2 what I have in our 56 that we’ve had 14 years…like said above I don’t care at this point in my life at 81.
A couple of weeks ago I had a very minor mishap with the front bumper against our own planter next to our driveway. The scratch didn’t go below the copper…..I pick up the bumper tomorrow morning. Yes in SoCal we can get replating …. local 4 miles from where I live. Price??? IDGAS. (Idon’tgiveas**t)

Seems to be all over the board and regional. I see junk selling for a ton and decent rides very reasonable. In washington prices are just starting to nudge down, but things are sitting for a while too. Engines and engine Parts are hot though. Chevy and ford small blocks are selling fast. Rare speed parts are selling well, even some flathead stuff. Example, a Ford 406 tripower complete engine sold for $10k in about 20 hours on market place. Nailhead stuff is moving quick for good money. Chevy cross ram intakes are selling fast. Etc.. FE’s are making a comeback in a big way and BBC stuff always moves.
Project cars and sheetmetal are dead right now. Anything without a ***le is sitting no matter how cheap.

I got a line on a 57 T bird, complete driver, and comes with spare 312 and dual 4 intake. Friend of family. How many came with the roll out Tonneau cover that only has driver opening? Was this standard rain gear?

Sure, but that may be in the future. There ARE such vehicles even now but we're talking about the "uncool" ones like anything 4 door and "weird" things like Studebakers, Ramblers and Hudsons. Me if I were in the US I'd drive nothing newer than 1973. Once you get one of the older cars with good aftermarket support to the point where it's sorted you're looking at mostly regular maintenance for tens of thousands of miles and when something goes wrong, you can repair it yourself. I do however believe there are more younger guys and girls who are discovering that sort of thing (just search YouTube, you'll find them).

  16. I don’t know. I’ve always been able to avoid those cars. ;)
