BTW, don't let the warnings about the gas heater worry you. The gas heater was discontinued after the first year (1960), so not an issue with this particular car. Heat is collected off the exhaust manifolds and channeled into the cabin. Make sure the manifolds don't leak, and replace the push rod O-rings so you aren't leaking/burning oil, and it should be safe. Not necessarily warm, but safe.
Yes, they are cool. I believe they were the first domestic m*** produced car to make more than 1hp per cid. They were fast, despite the **** pr Nazi Nader put out they would handle like a slot car once you learned how to drive it. I am gathering parts to make a street legal 65 dirt modified car on a real race ch***is, tell me it won't be cool. The motors are most certainly real, you needed more tools and skills than just one monkey wrench and a bfh. The motor design is used to this day in thousands of small planes that fly over us every day. The motors are well engineered, bulletproof if you understand them and produced 180 hp out of 164 cubes in 1965 right out of the factory. Please educate me on how much hp the flathead was able to produce per cu inch after how many years in production? I have a 53 Customline with an original flathead and three on the tree and love to cruise in it. I accept the limitations of the car and motor and enjoy what it has to offer. But to put down, degrade or ridicule a car or owner because you don't understand something is not cool.
I knew it was gettin painted but forgot to check it out. Thats a beautiful base color anyway, but cant wait to see how far theyre goin to bring it. On a serious note, the 1st gen model is my dream car, and this one gives me duuuurty phantasies
Hey, i remember it! I think you had a post in either the ''lowriders'' thread or one of the other ''coolvairs'' thread, where u were askin what you could do w/ it. Am i right? Anyway, is it juiced? Or its just a crazy static srop? Just wondering, its kool as fuk regardless. I really like the mini flat top. To think of it, there isnt a single Corvair model i dont like
In the 60s there was a racer who brought one to the area dirt tracks to race in the stock cl***. People laughed until he started winning, then they changed the rules to eliminate rear engine cars. Contrary to popular belief and the infamous stories involving Ralph Nader, Corvair is the only car ever certified Safe by the United States government.
