No. I like the flamed trucks, personally. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Roll with it and put flames on whatever flames look good on!
They are traditional, but for the most part I don't care for them except for 49-51 Fords for some reason they are really cool on them
I swear people,if you don't dig Bob's Merc being flamed up,then you just ain't f'n American.This car is Apple Pie I tell ya,Apple f'n Pie!
Flames are just as dead as Flattie V8s, early Hemis and Strombergs.... Stickers are for toolboxes.... I'll give up my flames when you pry my cold dead.....oh wait....never mind... dj
thats like asking if jeans and a black shirt are dead... its a classic. Personally i prefer scallops, but flames will always be around.
I have always loved good flames on a hotrod if done the right way . These newer flames don't do anything for me ! My 2 cents worth !
Sorry to say that flames and pinstriping pretty much died around here in the early to mid 70's ................ which is when I quit painting. Glad they are back and lookin good. I found my old paint box the other day. May have to dust it off and try my hand at it again.
I hope not or my daughter will be pissed when she finds out her new stroller is out of style already. [/LEFT]
I have to admit 2 things. I didn't read every entry in this post. And-uh I never liked flames. Never. Whew...I feel better now. That being said, the ridiculously over the top flame jobs Gilbert Torres posted up there are pretty freakin' cool....in their over-the-topedness.
I think flames are still a major part of hotrodding but those cookiecutter flames are pathetic. If you're gonna put flames on your car, paint ORIGINAL flames for YOUR car not like those stupid stick-on ones. If you want that cheep flame look, go out and get an early 90s Toyota. For a car that you drop thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours into, why put basic, common flames on your car. I'm sorry if my opinion offends anyone but I just needed to get that off my chest.
When everyone started getting "real fire" painted on their car, I began to look away. Flames are good but if that fire looks real, it better be real.
Saw a Honda Rebel m/c today painted Pearl White with Pink flames, that pretty much killed 'em for me for awhile.
