Not saying I dont like the 3 tooth grille, I just seem to see more of the early ones hot rodded.
The truck does not have the tag on the inside of the glove box, but has the one on the firewall which does list a serial number. Can anyone with the tag on the firewall and the glove box see if the serial numbers match? I have to have a decent number to get a title, I understand the frame is stamped but sometimes they are hard to read from rust in the north east.

Always loved the 48-52 F-1 pickups. Plenty of parts around and I think they look great from showroom stock to wild customs.

  5. Kind of a stupid question,, If you think they are cool they are cool,, or what. I have never asked someone else if a car is cool before I bought it, if I like it and can buy it I go for it.

    But That's Just My Opinion.

  6. was this a serious question? i think a lot of people love them and they look very cool when they are built like mild customs

Problem is you read the title but didnt read the post, seems lots of poeple do that these days.
I was looking for build and parts info to see what they could be when hot rodded, as already stated the truck is a pile of parts with no clear image of what is it or could be. I guess I titled it wrong.

Anyhow my real question is if the tag on the firewall "serial number" matches the VIN on the tag in the glovebox. Glovebox tag is missing on this truck.

  9. Yes, the numbers on the firewall tag, glove box and frame should all match. The glove box tags often go missing since they are just screwed on.....

There's plenty of parts for them. Pick up a copy of Hemmings Motor News and look in the truck section for dealers selling parts for them. As for the grill, I saw one once where a guy removed the teeth leaving just the horizontal stock grill bar. Actually, It didn't look bad.

Well then I guess they are cool! Deal is done, will get pics when I get the truck home. Need a pair of 51 doors, are the cabs and doors all the same 48-52 or later?

All the doors are the same, the only difference between years for the cab its self is the size of the rear window.

Here are just 3 that I found on a google search. They make nice rides in my opinion. Just as nice as 48-53 Chevys do. Parts are available.

thats the funnest thing I seen, how`d you remember that? Yes these trucks are real cool stock or restored, as a hot rod i`d pick a different year or different truck.

  26. Here is my truck that I sold last year. Amazing how few people type a name in Google and then click on images and you have thousands of images of your choice.

I have a 51 F1 that my Dad bought new. I'm going through it currently. But to answer your question, yes, I think they look really good with a little chop done to them. There are lots of parts both original and after market available...:D
