if you can get them cheap enough i would buy them and stick them in the attic some where.sit on them for about 10 years and they will probably worth a shit load of money later on.
    not HAMB friendly.

I always thought they looked better on mid 60s, early 70s cars.. not so much muscle cars, because torque thrust and cragers had that market, and looked oh so right.. but more like the lowrider belflower type of ride..pretty much anything long. I never thought a muscle car looked right with em.. deffinately wouldnt look right on my 50..

  4. I never liked them when they were new,,,still don't,,,but it's your truck if you like them that's all that matters. HRP

Ahaaaa! makes sense now!.. Actually years ago I bought a 68 mustang fastback that had em on it and they were the first thing ripped off that car. couldnt stand them on it,looked 100% better in my opinion wit hthe alumn slots.Another wheel I didnt like was those gold looking rims with the holes all around in em..corral rims or something, cant think of thier name.. Was always more partial to the torque thrust, slots, or stock rims.

  9. ditto! i did have a set on a 68 roadrunner once but removed them because well , they sucked!

I'd kill for a pair of 15x4's!Landy had them on his cars Sox&Martin ran them also, really popular on Super Stocks and early Pro Stocks.

I kind of like 'em personally (on the right car, of course). I'm considering putting them on my "not quite HAMB friendly" 68 New Yorker 2dr with a set of narrow whites.
There were some MUCH uglier wheels to come along in the 80's&90's!

I saw a set of Keystones with the whole centers painted like a torque thrust, over the chrome part and the usually-black part, just leaving the outsides chromed. Looked like a whole different wheel, actually quite attractive.

The way they come new, with the chrome centers and black inserts, I'm not fond of, not even on 'the right car'.

  13. Never looked good, popular it the 70s, gay before the Regan years. Even Sox&Martin could not erase the enormouse mullitude that that wheels achieve. In this area due to the Natives they were the soup dujour on 70s Monte Carlos!

Keystones were to custom cars as Cod pieces and Cameo were to R&B. Word Up!

FYI, the beat up 1978 Z28 Camaro shown has stock wheels on it, not Keystones. The "Joe Dirt" guy is creepy beyond belief.

I agree the Keystones belong on muscle cars and newer, but what do I know?

  19. hell yeah with the right stance and tires on the right car....very cool. Remember the HaMB is not always the be all end of taste...

  20. All sarcasm aside, it's best to choose a wheel that compliments the design of your vehicle.

My personal opinion- those would look straight up "Joe Dirt" on a mid -60's F100.

Alot of the early/mid sixties Fords had that skirted rear wheelwell opening- it was a "streamlined" styling feature that I think was kind of graceful, but gives the cars a little less of a lean hot rod look and more of a custom look.
I think any kind of spoked wheels with that streamlined half-wheelwell looks horrible unless the vehicle is really low. Especially since most people tend really to focus on the rear wheels/tires of a Hot Rod.
The spoked wheel is more of a Hot rod wheel- it just clashes to me.
    ...except maybe Astro's.

Personally, I like them. Especially on MOPAR Super Stock style cars. John Dianna also ran them on his Junior Stocker 56' Chevrolet Sedan Delivery. Paint the "black" with silver hammer-rite and it changes everything. Butch/56sedandelivery.

if you like them that's all that's all that counts. if you get tired of them you can always sell them.

I was trying to remember when these first came out. I'm thinking right about 1970?

They were popular for a while on Stock, SS and MP drag cars in the early 70's. I kind of liked them, mainly as something different in a sea of Cragar SS.

Not a HAMB item by any stretch.

There was a red, otherwise stock-looking ´64 Pontiac Catalina Coupe with a set of those and raised-letter tires running around Helsinki back in the late ´80s and early ´90s. Always thought that thing looked killer with those. Not really sure when that type of wheel originally came into the market. My guess is around early-to mid-´60s. Least they looked period-correct enough on that Pontiac, not to mention plenty "old-school" in an era when all You´d see in the "trendy" magazines on a car from that era and back was Convo Pro´s, pastel paint over brightwork, neon graphics down the sides, and grey tweed interiors...Not sure if that makes them "HAMB-friendly" or not.

I ran a set of 8x15s with white lettered oversize tires on all four corners on my white 63 Super Sport 4-speed back in the 70s. They gave it a mean NASCAR look when I lived in North Carolina. (Junior Johnson was my hero and also ran the white No. 3 63 with the "Mystery 427" engine). The car is still sitting in a barn with them on it. I like them but they are kinda dated for today's stuff.
