Are Leaf Spring Bolts "special"?

I need to get some slightly longer than stock leaf spring bolts. Will regular Grade 8 bolts work, or is there special hardened bolt that needs to be used?

This is for my 302-powered Econoline that will see some track time, but mostly hauling and regular driving. I'm building my own CalTrack-style traction bars and the bellcrank plates pivot on the spring bolts, so I need some longer bolts.

The round head is special. I've made my own bolts out of grade 8 bolts and a grinder.

Check an older real auto parts store, they might have some in stock that are just what you need. Dorman brand for example

Or if you're talking about the bolt that goes thru the end of the spring...hmmm...

I've used grade 8 socket head bolts without issues. The socket head usually fits the hole in the spring perch without modification.
Once the rearend in bolted into place, the U-bolts hold it all together as well....

What other bolt is there? Yes, the bolt that goes through the spring eye/bushing. The one that came with the new bushing LOOKS like any other bolt, but what do I know? I want to make sure it's safe.

Yes, I am replacing all the bolts and bushings when I replace my old, crummy springs with heavy duty springs.

the bolt in the middle.....the center pin. I think that's what others had thought you meant. FWIW I have used allen head cap screws for a center pin in the past.

To the original question, yes grade 8 bolts are fine, that all Calvert Racing sends with the caltracs...
