Just kinda mocked up some headlights and hood sides on the short 37. What do ya think. To big or Ok. These things would make Dolly Parton look small.

The car is going to get 39 chevy tail lights mounted to 1/4rs. Same shape as headlights. Kinda like Dolly in 1st grade.

I like the way the lights work with the front end setup. I think Dolly would too.

Big Headlights are relitive. You could use huge lights like from the Br*** Era but those would not work with the overall design/theme of the car.

I'd leave 'em just how they are.

  7. I like the headlights - so if he does not use them I know where they could go :D
Did the guys ever show back up with the 39 tail lights?

I am stratching my head a little on the hood sides - should it have a front and rear. Add some material around the firewall area? Just an opinion - if I stopped by I would probably have another opinion.

    Still lookin' good!

Big *is* relative. They might be honkers, but look just right on that car to me. Might drop 'em down just a little though. What do look too bulky to me are the front tires...less width there would go a long way on the proportions (at least from the pics...might be different in real life). I do think that if yer gonna go to the trouble of makin' hood sides, ya may as well do it right and make them full with the cutout fer the engine. I'd base the lines of the opening on the angle created by the grill shell.

I don't usually dig fenderless cars of this era, but I damn well like that one. Good job on the proportions and stance.

I dig the headlights, fits the shape of the car really well, I think small headlights tend to look "tacked on" and these fit like they were designed there.

I also agree that the wide radial front tires take away from the rest of the car. some 6.00-16's would look great up there. I'll ***ume the ones you have on there are for mock-up only.

I like the size of them. But I too would like to see them setting alittle lower on the grille.
The cardboard side panel design needs alittle tweaking in my humble opinion.
I'd make it larger and louver it, covering the exposed side of the cowl area and snugging alittle closer to the headers.
Another suggestion before you're in paint.
I really like this car otherwise I wouldn't be suggesting stuff.:D
The rear wheelwell area looks too open at the rear of the tire area.
i would think a more enclosed tight fitting area around the rear wheels would be more appealing.
    Great job and greater metalwork!

I like it! Most definity needs some caps on those wheels! I think a little lower on the headlights, like just barely above the tops of the wheels would look better, but hell what do I know.

I think that because the hood looks long the headlights help tone it down....they come to a long point.......

I think smaller headlights wouldn't look right...

Petejoe I thought my cardboard side panel was some of my finest work. Realy ,when I build the panels they will cover the back side and will get lovered and will have a flair on the top and frount opening. The cardboard was a fast way to get a visual on what needed to be done. As for the back wheel opening, I raised the opening 2'' in the 1/4. The deck lid has been shortened 4'' and tail pan made from the front of a doner top. I think your right on needing to take more out of the back of the opening. I did take out 2 1/2'' were the opening meets the tailpan. At 2 1/2'' the opening fallows the belt line. If I take out any more the opening wont flow right with the belt line. Thats why I left it were its at.

No they didnt show up with the tail lights. I have a pair but one looks like its been ran over by a dump truck. If I cant find another one Ill have to try to fix it and Ill try to fix that hood side

  19. Steve - don't take my opinion for anything more than that. The car is coming along nicely.
Think about how much room you have and roughing in the Touring body over the winter?? :D

I think it works as is, but lowered would be better. Come to think of it Dolly Parton's are probably lower now as well. :D
