Are Steering '37-'48 parts Matched...??

With 37-48 used steering components, does the worm and sector have to be kept together as a matched pair due to wear patterns?

Can you add a new worm to a used sector and vice versa?

Is it possible to remove the worm from the steering shaft without damaging it so it can be used again?

I've rebuilt several boxes that needed only the sector or the worm replaced with no ill effects. The worm can be pressed off and reused if need be.
