NOVEMBER2014002_zpsdhsll5zc.jpg Shots from 1972 and 1973, note the primer on the rear door. Body was delivered sandblasted, it sat without primer for about a year and never gained any rust. Bob NOVEMBER%202014%20003_zpsh8ouwaff.jpg

  2. I do wet media blasting with recycled glass I have tried to warp a vw door I blasted a one sq. ft.for about 10 minuts the area never even got hot no warping whatsoever .that being said it is possible to cause large flat area to oil can , this can cause problems It is not hard to stop this from happening. A good operator should be able to wet blast a car without any warping. I did 12 cars last year inside, outside and bottom no complaints of warping.

I realize this post is ancient but it is still up and if anybody is considering having body panels dipped not to worry. Dipping bodies is a three part process first it goes into an oven and that will remove the paint and undercoating. After it's trip through the oven it is pressure washed and put into the acid dip. Once the parts go through the acid dip it is pressure washed again and put into a alkaline dip to neutralize the acid, once removed from the neutralizer it is pressure washed again with a phosphate to prevent rusting. Some places will offer e-coating & or powder coating.

Not much on body parts but I sure miss them for for blocks and heads in California.

^^^ This! I had an aerospace shop around the corner from my shop (1980) He did acid dipping blocks & heads for me, very reasonable.
I was restoring a Lincoln Continental Mark II, Had black nitrocel. finished, sent all the hardware & brackets from under the hood to the Aerospace shop for Cad plating.
The proprietor wasn't pleased with the 'rainbow cad' plating, charged me $16 for everything!!!
