im not the only one to use hand signals, last weekend i was cruising to a show, merging into the freeway at about 50 in my old p/u, hand out and everything, guy coming up behind me around 85mph swerved to the other lane and gave me a signal too hahaha, only it wasnt a nice one.

everyone is in a rush now a days. no more low and slow any more

I don't get why people don't use turn signals in modern cars. Is it really too much work to lift that one finger to move that stalk? Driving is too convenient these days, it has people not paying attention to driving.

I had a '63 Buick Electra 225 that had turn signals that worked. The only problem was that the stalk was kinda sticky, so if you signaled and turned, it wouldn't cancel. So you'd have to move it manually back into the neutral location. This was made difficult because it was old and sloppy, so it didn't "click," it just moved back and forth, but it half-clicked when signaling left, so if I were making a right turn I would signal right, complete my turn, and then put the signal on left, and then back to neutral.

I've always wondered if people were wondering what was wrong with my car (or me). :D

I put one of those aftermarket indicator switches on my roadster...it makes the brake lights double up as indicators and bought a pair of nifty nos teardrop type units to fit under the front...they have opaque/whitish lenses and meet the required spec for the car..ie; pre `64 cars can run red rear and white front indicators.I don`t actually need them by law, but after the first couple of drives of the car without them I realised it was better to be safe than sorry and moving one finger to flick the stalk is better than flapping your arm out of the car..besides no one these days understand hand signals.

Trafficators or Semaphore Signals are not legal in Ca.. Too bad, they are kind of neat.

Why do you say that? I can't find anything in the Vehcile code that bars them.

Quoting Foster Brooks, my left turn signal works great, but the right one makes my car go into reverse.....
