My son and I visited the First Center of Vision this week to see the Art Deco Car exhibit. The cars are absolutely amazing. Edsel Fords 34 two-seater-roadster is part of the exhibit.. The sad thing for us was they are there for art only and not the engineering. I wish there were mirrors under them so we could have seen the drive-trains and suspensions. There was a day for members only when the hoods and doors were open, but Im not a member. Attached is a link to a slide-show of the pics I took. Sorry some of them are a bit fuzzy, no flash is allowed and I didnt take a tri-pod. http://s31.photobucket.com/user/davedeltadog/slideshow/the first?sort=3
Some interesting stuff there; some details to study. Often, when a not-specifically-automotive exhibition on Art Deco features cars at all it is as if any car of the '20s or '30s qualifies as definitive Deco: good to see this not (really) happening here. Good to see the Voisin, too. The earlier, more geometric stuff tends to get neglected. Are you familiar with this thread?: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=615093
Davedeltadog, I heard about this exhibit but it was too far away for me to go. Viewing your pictures was the next best thing to being there. Thanks!
