Look directly below the hairpin tie-rod end that is some of the original Teal paint from '48/'49

Alot of the original body was still intact under the sheeted ****pit.

Most brackets were just bolted in

Boy now that's something to see, looks like it's in good hands.

I like the ***le as well, " As Found" not "Barn Find" :)

Every time one of these relics from our past surfaces it's a miracle. Just imagine how many opportunites there were to chop it up, modify it, part it out. Truely amazing that any of them are around to restore or maintain "as found".

Very cool looks like they did a great job restoring it.

This may have been covered somewhere else, but why did they not go with the light blue color that was on the car?

oh, nevermind I just realized which car it was.

I'll have to look I think this is the same car I have on one of my old t shirts
out of the gus scta book.

  25. Still been worked on.

The pics you sent of Bob's are fantastic and are from either April or May '48, this is my favourite version.

Yes Ernie and his team are doing a great job
It seemed appropriate and I hate the term "barn find" I could of called it a "desert find" as it was found in high desert.

I have attached a close up pic below

Yeah 4 times:D I do have to agree though.

Ernie is the perfect owner for the S/G roadster as he isn't just a collector he loves these cars and drives them hard.

????? Ernie has been updating me with the progress, this is the latest update
The seat is $$$ as every little detail from the photos was duplicated and have the right seat belts... doing the cross member in the back and again exactly detailed like all the photos with weld lines etc... motor is coming along

motor is being built to the original race specs. The things that were not correct at Ventura are being rectified in anticipation of Pebble Beach acceptance. Where is the problem? Not trying to be an ****, just wondering what isn't correct?

  28. Jimmy,

The head on the right is milled flat- could that be it? I don't remember if we talked about it, but the advice I was given was to mill the rocker shaft bosses down to allow for a higher ratio rocker instead of the Olds' 1:1. Don't know if Rufi modified his that way or not.

  29. Yes that one has been converted to 1.5:1 rocker ratio. The one on the left is a stock head. Rufi did modify his head like this also.
