Hey all, my name is Dave Havlir. I would like to start my build thread. I've been lurking around the COE thread for quite some time, as a few years ago I picked up a future project. I intend to go with the Oldsmobile/Cadillac front wheel drive type of build as I want to have a low flat bed type of body. The video clip of the COE with the moving rear axles is quite interesting to me. I believe and hope someone could confirm that it was what I think is called a Texas rollback trailer to build the rear section of the truck. Here is a pic of what I'm starting with. I believe its a '39 . I will be using just the cab, so if anyone is in need of any of the other parts please feel free to pm me about what you need. I am looking forward to learning and sharing as much as possible. Thanks in advance. Dave
Dave, that is a great start. Don't see many of the 39-40 gm, they tend to be newer etc. I know on the pickups the easiest way to tell which year between 39 or 40 is which dash it has in it. If the guages are round, it's 39 and if it is a single large rectangle it is a 40. I think that there was a difference in the number of grill bars too, but that is too hard to remember. With the coe, it could be quite different though. There may be a few on stovebolt.com that can translate the vin if you can find it. jason
