The movie A Christmas Story shows lots of old cars. Unless you shoot your eye out and can't see them.
Who can forget Topper? Custom Buick speedster... Constance Bennett was pretty sporty too. If you've never seen it, watch for it on Turner Classic Movies.
Closer to "home" (here on the HAMB) the race at the beginning of The Lively Set discussed here several years back... Not to mention the Chrysler Turbine car and a Dual Ghia
Hello, One of the best shows on streaming TV is a series called “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” It showcased plenty of historical items along the whole series. There are too many old classic cruisers and hot rods to mention. Here is the post from the when it started… Jnaki It is in its final season. The series hit home for plenty of 1940s to 50s families and their own situations. Although we thought it was a fine show for all ages, some may not appreciate some scenes as far as values are concerned. From an old HAMB POST: In watching this fabulous streaming channel series “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” it was about the same time period that we had experienced growing up, but on a different coast. The general idea of the show is really good. But, for us, it was the massive amounts of old classic cars of the 50s-60s and an unexpected scenes of drag racing hot rods and cool sedans. Mrs. Maisel was the flag starter of some of the races… In one episode, she is the starter for a hypothetical drag race between a modified coupe and a 55 Chevy. At one time, we thought she was going to do something different, like drive a hot rod in the actual drag race. That would have been something. Rachel Brosnahan is Mrs. Maisel. She is the star and makes the show the best it can be. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is a streaming series that spans quite a variation of locations and time periods. So, for the old car lovers and ID folks, this show is a wonder of old cars. Get ready to start counting. This photo starts the favorite portion of the Amazon Prime Series for my wife. She said it just makes everyone want to get in a convertible and take off all along the coastline, mountains, deserts and anywhere else that makes up a good road trip. With 8 episodes in season 1 and three, and 10 episodes on season two, will give movie fans a similar feel to watching a movie continuously. For us, it was like watching an on-going two hour movie each time, from the comforts of home, anytime we wanted to watch. No hassle of the airborne-pandemic from movie theaters, either. Excerpts From Another Post: My wife has always wanted a convertible for one of our daily transportation vehicles. So, when we started watching the Amazon Studios’ Marvelous, Mrs. Maisel on the streaming channel, it brought back many memories of those early convertible days with her mom. For you hard core detail people, yes, the convertible has a misaligned door and side trim. The more I watched, I zeroed into the view every time. It is a design as well as a fit and finish problem. The auto tech guys from the studios could have made it better. In the show, Mrs. Maisel goes from her place to upstate New York for a holiday and then gets a drive home in a pristine red Plymouth Convertible. When my wife saw that, she said…wouldn’t it be nice to get a convertible for one of our two cars? Our granddaughter would flip over and jump right inside. What is it with girls/women and convertibles? The Mrs. Maisel scenes just made convertible driving look so attractive with the color contrast, the woods, the weather and the empty roads, etc. 1957 Plymouth Belvedere Convertible “As for the show's vehicular tour de force? This gorgeous 1957 Plymouth Belvedere Convertible. The hue is sort of like Revlon's Cherries in the Snow meets Fire and Ice, and it just works, on every single angular level. It's all lines and beauty and sharp edges. We see it on full display in season 2 as the ride of Midge's smitten new beau.” A Marvelous Mrs. Maisel scene description…
I remember this from about 20 years ago, flipping around and saw this video on M TV. Several H.A.M.B. friendly customs and hot rods, and a few clubs. The noise (trust me it's not music) is awful, be sure to mute it if you play it. Note the Rumblers shirt
Another music video, this is one I am not ashamed to say I know about. Social Distortion's When The Angels Sing, for those who don't know the lead singer Mike Ness is a big period correct hot rod and custom guy!
For a good cross section of everything Hamb friendly (cars, trucks, boats, planes) give this show a quick look...
Hey, Danny! Just a quick note: James Dean's Rebel Merc came out of Harrah's collection in '80? Brian Burnett had it in his 'Street Rods West' shop, the clutch was burned up. He called, I had it towed to my shop, replaced clutch disc & cover, surfaced flywheel... I wore my red windbreaker when I delivered it. Laid down about 4 feet of rubber in the parking lot. Brian slapped his forehead...

Mrs Maisel is about a woman comediane in 50's NYC ...The old cars are only there to set the stage for the time period.... I was born in 47 and lived in NYC area unil 1973....Never saw a hot rod ,never saw any really old cars...There were some 50's sedans with a mild gasser look and lead sleds.
One of my favorite TV series over the years. They really pissed me off when after 4 or 5 seasons, they decided to put the final season on Netflix Only! Lou Diamond Phillip's character Henry "Standing Bear" (pictured here) also drove another one of these that was painted flat red, but I believe that was for only an episode or two. A show that I watched when I was a child , The Thin Man which starred Peter Lawford and Phyllis Kirk . A very cool (at least to me at the time ) Dual Ghia was frequently seen as it was the hero and heroines ride .
Didn't Andy Griffith star in a made for TV movie or maybe a series in which he had several low buck Early Ford hot rods? He played the local detective or cop in a small town, kind of a reprise of his '60's role. I can't find anything. This would've been around 1980.

God Bless & Merry Christmas Billhttps://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...ar-transport-hauling-open-or-enclosed.614419/[/QUOTE] Hello, Longmire is/was my wife’s favorite modern western themed streaming TV show. We have watched it from the beginning to the sad series ending season. But, I was gathering information on the photos taken of each old truck we saw in all of the seasons. It was to be a story on old trucks in the old days and new, whether it is fiction or possible real life. My wife has always told me that one day we may see the wide open ranges from our front porch. Ha! But, to add an enticement to the whole pick up and move scenario, she has thrown in a purchase of the latest high horsepower 4 wheel drive Raptor truck for our daily driver. We would also keep a cool old truck as there would be a need for such a vehicle. Now, that is a hot rod person’s choice. Jnaki Throughout the seasons, the two pickup trucks were the green pickup and later, a faded old red one. Low cost, reliable and available to add some class to the show. But, as all good things come to a close, this would be a great photo for the Longmire Series ending credits… IOHO
