Hello, Ever see a series on TV that you wish it never ends? “Lessons in Chemistry” (Apple TV) is one of those great series that takes everyone back in time. (part of the timetable hits home) The series not only tells a great story and uses facts seen/experienced by everyone. But, it is in living color, the sets are from actual areas of So Cal and the storyline makes one feel at home. The storyline could have also taken place on any community across the USA back in those early TV days. If you are an avid reader, this wonderful book goes into more detail, but the TV series shows actuality. It was as if we were projected back in time and the period was right up our own experiences. What caught my wife’s eye, was seeing a preview of the actors walking their dog next to a cool classic 50 Ford sedan. My wife’s eye in recent times has been accustom to seeing different things during this pandemic time period of our own area. We don’t go chasing hot rods and cool cruising cars, but they just show up on the same roads as we are on or are parked in a certain area along the vast coastline, here in So Cal. So, she spotted the 50 Ford sedan in a TV show preview and made a note to tell me of the novel + TV series. Classic homes, classic old cars, what more is there to add to a great series about a certain portion of our early lives? Jnaki The road through your windshield… This series is as clear as if we were actually there along the coast, the smooth lake scenes and in the surrounding neighborhoods. The series shows the most 1950s cars of any period drama. The “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” had a lot of cool cars of the time periods. But, this one was close to home and was a surprise of the new TV series shown on the screen…YRMV talk about “period correct…!” Yowza!
One of my favorite cars of television. Used to watch for hours just to catch a glimpse of it for a second.
Maybury also had a '38 cabriolet, that was used a few times by different actors/actresses. The "fun" girls blasting thru town to get Barneys' attention, & at least one older regular needing it "fixed" by Gomer at Andy's house & getting a fix-it ticket from Barney in town. Nice car. Marcus...
Last night saw great 1946 noir classic in black-white, Detour, with a 41? Lincoln continental cabriolet convertible, seen throughout the movie. It's light colored. Stunning. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/45/Car_used_in_1945_film_Detour.jpeg
I drive my wife crazy when I watch reruns of Perry Mason, always blurting out car models and years. Most of the time I was right, not this time!
I'd swear there are two different trucks in these photos, first two show gas fill on cowl, second two shows cowl vent, anyone else see anything odd, thoughts.
Perfectly correct. From the same episode, they stole the model A and during the chase it became a Euro Deuce with the factory suicide doors.
Thelma Lou : I smell gas. Do you smell gas, Andy? Andy Taylor : I smell gas. Opie Taylor : I smell gas. Gomer Pyle : I smell gas. Aunt Bee Taylor : I smell gas, too. Barney Fife : All right, all right, all right, you smell gas! Course you smell gas! What do you think this car runs on, coal
