Hank - I think the gang here is just trying to help . . . as you ask about what was done and folks here tend to agree that the vast majority of late 40's, early 50's cars didn't have that many of the fancy race parts you're asking about - nobody could afford them as almost everybody had tight budgets. Even the cars that made the covers of the magazines and the show winners . . . didn't have a wide selection of race and/or fancy parts. A great example is Ardun heads -- heck, we believe they only produced a couple hundred sets TOTAL . . . they were used more in racing than on the street, so you just didn't see many examples in any of the HotRod mags for the era you are targeting. My bet is there was a small handful that ever made it to the street between 1948 and 1955. In the end, your best source of "what was done" is the various magazines and publications from that time period. Use them to help you decide what your look/style will be and move forward. You can always "bolt on more stuff" later on if that appeals to you. In the end, make the car what you want - none of our opinions should play too big of a role in your decisions. Most importantly, get a car done and, on the road, . . . then evolve it if you think you should. That is exactly what almost everyone did back in the day (and most of us still do today). Each of these cars evolves over time - very few are ever actually "complete". Best of luck . . .
Bored&Stroked, Yes thanks, I think I got it, but its been a misstake to say I try to justify parts I'm not even used ( just ask about ) or say I'm totally in the 'era correct', and Yes I like the old look or traditional way do the cars ( that's why I ask ). And the idea is get a car ready, but anyone can try collect this old stuff outside USA ( part for part ) for little over a year, and it's not that easy ( and then try to learn what parts to bought ) and I spend huge amount of time get this far. As I'm not a body guy ( or a ch***ie guy for that matter ) so I must get help there. Overhere it's not a big industry so its not that easy to find people ready to do this that has the skill and experiance. And before that can start I must find all the major parts. I think I had near another ch***ie and engine parts and 4 front axles and into second body, so parts has been bought and sold ( I guess that has confuse some ). I has seen this project as several year project and it will be complex and not be cheap. And to realise that is good I think.
