Anybody out there ever assemble a 1961 Lincoln Continental hood spring system? It's made up of two metal rods that are twisted into place. I cant for the life of me get it to twist into place! I've been fighting it for about 2 hours. Any tips or tricks? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance,

Update! I was able to get one side in by removing the bracket, attaching the spring, and "persuading" it to go where I wanted it to. The problem now is I am unable to remove the second bracket because of the spring tension, the arm covers the bolts.

Just in case any one stumbles on this thread with a similar problem I was able to get the spring system back in the car. I used multiple channel locks and vice grips to supply leverage to the springs. It was a pita to get back in but with enough trial and error and brute strength it can be accomplished.

Pretty much like a lot of the trunk springs I'd think. Good to see that you got it put back together though.
