Does anyone know how to remove the chrome trim around the turn signal indicators, on these astro dials? They have to come out forward from the face, but I can't seem to figure it out and I don't want to damage is by experimenting, so any help would be great.[IMG]

^^^ now that's funny stuff. Everyone at work is looking at me like I'm crazy cuz I'm laughing out loud and I'm the only person sitting alone.

  5. I don't remember how I did it when I painted the dash in my old '54, but I thought I just pushed them out from the backside. There was lots of beer and a rush to get it all painted before a show, so my memory isn't the best.

OMG-that's funny! I'm thinking 'curse of the werewolf' and there's a full moon out!

But to your question - they may be a press-fit, I've found a few other dash pieces like that. Just be careful when trying to separate them.

Oh and in your case - Do not attempt during a full moon though. . . :D

  10. Yes , they should gently press out , I removed the ones in Wifey's '55 by gently pushing with a flat faced punch .

Remeber tho , Sit, be gentle, don't be RUFF !

Ive got 3 or 4 of these out in my garage, I'll try to push them out tonight. When I painted mine, I just put tape over them and it worked "OK". Not as good as it should have been though.

they are pressed in, not to bad, I used a small flat screw driver and pushed them out pretty easy. Just had to be careful not to go through the thin plastic lenses.

The interior of the car as it is now, is so dark... I needed to find a way to brighten it up some. So the dash and other metal trim in the car will be this Pearl Almond with a suede clear coat, and I ordered some samples of some different colors of Naugahyde and cloth to compare for the rest of the interior. Probably going with some sorta Beige / Buckskin / wheat color and maybe some white accents. Not sure yet.
