Event Coverage AstroMonkey BBQ IX - June 27th 2009

AstroMonkey IX is on and is again being graciously hosted by the Railroad St. Bar & Grill in Limerick, PA on the last Saturday in June (6/27/2009). As always we'll be having plenty of cool bands and our no frills, no rules, no prizes car show. It's all about real people's real rides not how much money you spent on it. Should be a great hang...Last year was a blast.

We had a good turnout last year. Hopefully this time is even better. The owner of the Rail Road expanded the parking lot so we should have more room.

I'm in the middle of a mad thrash to get my roadster done for this show.....!!!!

 

I can't wait to see it. How's it going?

I've been taking Friday's off from work for the last month to help get Nick's Galaxie back on the road. We dropped in a 390 in place of the way broken 352 and just got it running this past weekend. We popped the oil pan off the 352 to get a look at the damage. The number 8 connecting rod's end cap was splayed open like a fish fillet.

 

midway through wiring with my buddy Allen....running tranny lines..etc...we've been in the garage till 11 each night. It's gettin there!

 

Awesome. Looks like we won't have anything new this year, but all our cars for what they're worth are back on the road. Maybe by July I can actually start working on my 36.

If everything goes O.K., I should be there with a buddy. We're going to a junk yard near the Delaware in the morning, but should arrive sometime about lunch time. Unfortunately, my '66 is in the hospital & my '33 project is still a few months away, so we'll have to use the old boring Miata again.

I had a great time again. There was a perfect blend of young & old, girls & guys, & everyone was very laid back, including the dogs. Great (Free!) food & the beer was cheap. There was a contingent of guys from Maryland even. It was really great to see Jerry's unveiling of his new completed '30 roadster. Nice. Thank you Monkey clan!
