Am I the only person who doesn't get turned on by the Roth inspired stuff? I dunno, it just seems like a lot of work for something the Jetsons would laugh at...maybe I'm just strange...I'm gonna go sit in the corner now and think about what I've done...

Gee, and I thought I was special.

So close, I figured, for sure, he'd keep it under wraps until.....

  9. i've seen that thing in some magazine detailing his use of roth's "spit-wad" fiberglass technology (the name is escaping me at this point).

    Very cool indeed!

one question - where do people get these bubbles from.. Do they go thorugh the paintstaking process of fabing them up themselves or is there some generic source??

It is real Kool to see all of the bubbletops being built. Keep up the good work.

    Happy Trails,

  11. The last bubble top tech post on the hamb by..... (I've forgotten this Gentleman's name. Is from Long Island...) mentioned fabbing it himself. No ready source that I know of.

This thing is cool but my stupid question is "Can you drive it?"

As for the Jetsons, they don't think. They are animated and 2 dimensional. This vehicle is 3 dimensional and so is laughter.

I always figured that the atmosphere inside would be hot and airless in the sun. The real space aliens who drive these things have probably worked out a very sophisticated system that automaticly tints and shades the bubble to reflect the different forms of radiation that they encounter. Also the aliens might be breathing some supercooled methane or ammonia atmosphere like on their home planets so gas containment and recirculation would be important. Our atmosphere could be deadly to them.
The plexiglass bubble is only a facsimile of the operable system to be yet engineered. I'm glad that there are artists still working to keep this retro-vision of the Brave New World to come alive.

    - Maybe I'm a weird one too, but that doesn't get me all that excited ... I respect what they have done and how they did it, but it doesn't make me cream my jeans. I think I'll join johnnyxcliche in the corner.

  21. I'm kinda with you guys...I mean it is cool and I can understand the work that went into it (having layed my fair shar of fiberglass for surfboards) but I just don't get the drive to build stuff like this....

I would think the drive would be trying to gain fame/build name recognition and the almighty dollar, selling them as Rothesque as one of a kind "Roth type" cars. hell if you don't have to make them run it's all the easier. It sure isn't because it's what you really want and are going to drive it, it's just "to sell". That said, that one doesn't show very much imagination in the body design, boxy, square, tail fins shooting back. I mean I understand it's a lot of work and takes skill, but that one looks like when you're sitting around sketching designs and you've got 40 wadded up ones laying around that you missed the garbage can with, it should have been one of them.

Very cool, but it just isn't grabbing my attention either. Maybe when it's complete I'll feel differently.

Jeez, do you guys know how to have any fun? Lighten up. It's cool.

There is a BIG part of me that wants to build an X-Sonic. Now I just gotta scrape together 50-large for a Vette body...

I'm sure it will, a 2nd pushmobile would label you as "builder of shit that doesn't run" for life.
