Do you still have the Olds Joe or is part of the transition? I didn't notice it mentioned...or maybe you did and I missed it...

Unless you're in my shop I wouldn't hold your breath haha. This one is going to be a marathon.

Congrats. As a former one time owner, I can say, the best part is, you can't go wrong.
No matter which way you deal it, the deck is stacked in your favor.
    Have fun winning

Absolutely still have my Olds. Both of them! My 61 bubble top Super 88 is off at body and paint, and my 56 Holiday is still trucking along. Just polished off damn near 1000 miles this weekend running up to Canada and back for the Jam Up. Had a nice ride.

I have no intention of getting rid of either of them either. The 61 will be a completely finished car and the 56 is the go-anywhere car. Honestly, the 56 is my favorite "old" car I've ever owned, and gets way too much usage to get rid of.

I've had my 57 Ford for over 20 years, but after it got into a fender bender about 5 years ago, I've driven it a total of like 200 miles. I'll go out and start it periodically, and it still runs great. But I just don't have it in me to rebuild it. Time to move on.

Thanks Tom! I feel like getting one is a significant part of the battle won.

Before I got this one, I tried to buy one in Delaware a few months back. Guy had the car for sale on FB Marketplace. I offered him basically 90% of what he was asking, and after exchanging text messages with him for 2 days, he totally ghosted me, after telling me "I'll just keep the car". Then he put the car up for sale on eBay, where I then won the auction for $2000 less than I offered him previously. But it didn't hit the reserve price, and after messaging him to see if he wanted to make a private sale, he said his reserve price was $6000 more than what he had it listed for on FB. What a donkey.

That Nomad was running and driving, but needed floor work and at least one quarter as well, but was over twice as much as this one. Look, this car is rusty. But it's not THAT rusty. I could probably take a couple Gs and make this car run, stop and steer reliably with a few new parts and the stuff I have laying around. In fact, I've been fighting the urge to do that, since I'd like to let my wallet cool off after the bill comes in for the paint on my Olds. But I also know all I'd be doing is delaying the inevitable.

Love your plans except for the grill. The designers absolutely nailed the '57 in every respect. The grill is a masterpiece from the factory. It would be like putting a different grille on a '32 Ford but I guess I just don't get customs. Good luck with your project that car is worth the effort you intend to put into it.

I’ve seen enough of your stuff to know this one will be awesome too. Congrats on getting yourself another ‘57!

I have looked at a few, too much rust on most or they were rolling abortions. On the very good side, lots of new parts are available, ch***is... bodies, the 1-piece floor pans are groovy.
